VRS Details

The 2016 Midlands Tour builds upon the success of last years event and again forms the 8th event of the Victorian Road Series (VRS). All Midlands Tour events are run in accordance with the VRS race requirements and structures, including A, B & C grades for Womens, Masters and Mens, with each A grade race including a teams component.

$70 (+ 30c credit card fee)


Location

Australian Automotive Research Centre, Anglesea, Victoria (90 mins drive from Melbourne)


Course Information

Multiple road circuits are provided within the closed Australian Automotive Research Centre (AARC) facility located at Anglesea, VIC. Each race commences with multiple laps of the 4.2 klm oval Highway Circuit, thereafter riders are diverted onto the extended gradient section which increases the circuit distance to 6.6 klms and includes a short downhill then a constant 5% climb for 2 kilometres. A 100m hard gravel section links the top of the extended gradient section back with the oval circuit. (Refer to course layout on Page 2).

Event 1 9:30 am

  • Women A, B and C
  • Masters B and C
  • Mens C

Event 1 is based on elapsed time of 1hr 45 mins + 1 lap. All grades will be run concurrently as individual races. The first 3 laps (as defined by leading bunch/grade) will be run on the oval Highway Circuit, thereafter the remaining race duration will include multiple laps of the Highway Circuit plus the extended gradient section. After the elapsed time has been met all riders (including lapped riders) will receive the bell indicating 1 lap to completion.

  • Registration 08:30 Start 9:30

Starting Order will be Womens C, Womens B, Womens A, Masters C, Mens C, Masters B Race will not be neutralised when bunches pass one another as the circuit is very wide with good visibility and ample room to pass. Riders are expected to race within their grade and not join a passing bunch.

Event 2 13:00pm

  • Mens A, Mens B
  • Masters A

Event 2 is based on elapsed time of 2hr 45 mins + 1 lap. All grades will be run concurrently as individual races. The first 5 laps (as defined by leading bunch/grade) will be run on the oval Highway Circuit, thereafter the remaining race duration will include multiple laps of the Highway Circuit plus the extended gradient section. After the elapsed time has been met all riders (including lapped riders) will receive the bell indicating 1 lap to completion.

  • Registration 12:00 Start 13:00

Starting Order will be Mens B, Masters A, Mens A Race will not be neutralised when bunches pass one another as the circuit is very wide with good visibility and ample room to pass. Riders are expected to race within their grade and not join a passing bunch.


Teams

Team entries for A Grade events in Mens, Womens and Masters races. Teams receive points in VRS championship as per VRS regulations.
Team vehicles are not permitted to follow the race (official vehicles only).


Technical Information

Pit Area and Pit Lane

For individual entrants a FCC Pit Tent will be provided on the start finish straight. Riders are required to provide their own spares. Spares should be labelled with the rider name and race number and provided to the FCC Pit Tent prior to the start of the race. Teams may use the FCC Pit Tent or secure a portable tent in Pit Lane if so required.Please ensure it is anchored down adequately and manned throughout the event. Please advise the Race Director prior to the event if you wish to install a tent in Pit Lane.

Spares / Mechanicals/ Mishaps

Spares vehicles will shuttle riders to the pit area where they will undertake repairs and rejoin the race as soon as possible. On the final lap riders will receive neutral service at the point of the incident and rejoin the race by their own effort. A limited number of neutral spares will be provided for use in the final lap of each Event.

Feed Zone

Event 2 only. Feed Zone is open from lap 11 to lap 20. No feed zone last two laps. Feed Zone is located at the start/finish area.

Lapped Riders

Lapped riders may be withdrawn from the race at the discretion of the Chief Commissaire.

Rider Briefing

A rider briefing will be conducted by the Chief Commissaire on the start line 10 minutes prior to the start of each race.


Presentations

A presentation will be held shortly after completion of each race. All placegetters are required to attend. Presentations will be held adjacent to the Registration tent.


Prize Money

Prize money will be published prior to commencement of the Event.
