The GD Champs is a bike race that commemorates George Dummer, a talented mountain biker and all round local legend from the Southern Highlands of NSW, who tragically passed away in 2020, aged 14. For more information, go to http://gdchamps.com/
The GD Champs began as a school event and the inaugural event included around 70 riders from Oxley College and Chevalier College. In the second event in 2022, 107 riders from 21 schools competed and the format changed to Enduro. Highlands Trails continued the Enduro format and was proud to host the third edition in 2023. We now bring you the 4th GD Champs, with a very similar race format to 2024.
George would by now have finished school, so the event too has grown up and is now for riders of all ages. The Enduro format allows riders to tackle three different trails as many times as they like, to record their fastest time on each.
We are using three fun, fast, flowing (mostly downhill) trails of 1-2km. Perfect for beginners or those wanting to try racing for the first time but also fun and fast for experienced riders. Complete as many laps as you like on all three trails, with your best time counting towards the results.
Please note all entry is online - CUTOFF is Saturday 6:00pm, 23rd November.
There are categories for all ages, from beginners and young kids to experienced racers. $10 adults, $5 children for Highlands Trails members or $15 adults, $10 children if you are not a member of Highlands Trails.
This is not specifically a school event, but school-aged riders should add their school in the comments section in their Entry and they will earn points towards their school. The winning school will take home the GD Cup. Oxley College has won the GD Cup in all three editions. Can another school challenge their dominance?!
To enter:
Step 1: You will need a valid AusCycling Race Licence and an Entryboss account. Please go to Membership on the AusCycling website if you are not currently a member. You can purchase a free 4 week trial licence if you have never raced before. Otherwise a one-day, one-week or 12-month membership is available. Purchasing a 12-month licence is most cost effective and allows you to enter club races anywhere in Australia. Highlands Trails hold events every 3-4 weeks all year long. Please choose Highlands Trails as your club when you purchase a licence.
Step 2: Create an Entryboss account if you do not already have one. IMPORTANT: Put your AusCycling licence number, whether it is a free trial or one year licence (the letters AC followed by some digits) into your Entryboss profile, so that you will not need to show your race licence on the day. Entryboss will automatically confirm the validity of your licence. Note: If using a one day licence, you need to buy it for the day you need it and may not be able to put your AC number into Entryboss beforehand. In this case just bring digital evidence of your one day licence to the event.
Step 3: Enter the event by clicking on Enter now on this page.
