Race Information

What is a Death Pursuit?

• Teams comprise three riders (and will ride together for the entire event).
• Two teams start at the same time on opposite sides of the velodrome, and victory is attained when one team (at least two remaining riders) catches the other team
  
• Distance: As long as it takes (though the mercy clause might be invoked to spare teams for their next race)
  
• Team Progression Teams progress through Group Rounds in a knockout tournament through to finals, with a Final Fight to the Death for one overall winning team for the night. Losing teams go through a repechage
  
• All teams will race multiple times- and experienced teams will consider their tactics with future rounds in mind. (eg some teams will fake weakness to burn up chasing teams etc)
  
• Ultimate Winners: Overall winning team is immortalised on the Tombstone Perpetual Trophy
  
• SUPER IMPORTANT:

  96 INCH GEAR RESTRICTION / No time trial bars allowed.

  
  
• Junior Gear restrictions apply as normal (and may be advantageous to riders use to running smaller gears due to the 96" restriction on the 'big power units')
• Maximum 16 teams You snooze, you lose.
• Minimum Age: U15 (noting all teams race each other in a single Fight to the Death for an overall winning team)
  
• Waitlisting Waitlisted entrants who don't end up riding will be refunded, but also offered priority entry at the next event.
  
• Spectators Welcome - bring your family & friends for beats and an entertaining night of racing

• Circuit: DISC
  
• Pre-Race Checks: Gear Roll-outs for all riders
• Start Time: 6.00 pm warm up, 6.30pm start racing.

• $15.00 per rider
  
• Enter & Pay individually (provide team name at entry)

More Details

• Teams will initially be allocated to a group stage by secret ballot.
  
• Group stage winners go through further rounds and ultimately to finals
  
• Other teams ride off in a repechage
  
• Teams can only drop one rider each
  
• Restrictions applying to everyone (again because it is so important):
  
  • Gear Restriction 96 inches - applies to everyone & will be checked
    
  • Junior Gearing - applies as normal and will be checked
    
  • No time trial bars allowed
    
  • Track Bikes only

Team Names

Please consider your TEAM NAME prior to entry.

You enter & pay individually - but will be asked for your TEAM NAME at entry. We then use your TEAM NAME to bring you together as a team on the Startlist.

Because of that, it is a good idea that you discuss your TEAM NAME with your teamies prior to entry.

You will also be announced repeatedly by your Team Name on the night so you want it to be a good one (also, keep it clean otherwise we'll have to edit it for you)

Don't have a Team? - we can possibly help with assigning you to a composite team, but our real hope is you ride with mates or riders from your club.

Please note there are limited slots for teams, so you will need to get cracking or run the risk of missing out.
