About Highlands Trails and Southern Highlands Cycling Club

Highlands Trails is a mountain bike club that began as a trail advocacy and trail management club, based in Wingello in the Southern Highlands. Southern Highlands Cycling Club (SHCC) recently split and although they will still offer road and track events, they have handed the mountain bike side of their operations over to Highlands Trails. Highlands Trails is proud to present their first race, managed by the same team of volunteers that have been running the SHCC mountain bike events for the past year.

All SHCC and Highlands Trail members are welcome, along with riders from any other club outside the Highlands! You just need a valid AusCycling Race Licence (Off-Road only or All-Discipline). Please see the AusCycling website under Memberships to purchase a race licence. The options are a free 4-week trial (if you haven't had one before), a day licence ($30) or a Yearly Licence (most cost effective).

Some people have made enquiries about the membership options since SHCC has split. If you would like to transfer your SHCC membership to Highlands Trails, it is free and can be done by filling in an AusCycling form, here: https://www.auscycling.org.au/page/club-transfers. Another option is to keep your membership with SHCC and add Highlands Trails as an extra club, which can be done for $10, here: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/club-add.

Note: there will be a free BBQ after the race for Highlands Trails club members! ; )

Event Summary

Cost $10 adults, $5 children.

Please note ALL entry is online - CUTOFF is at 10:00am on Saturday, so we have time to print start lists etc before heading to the track.

This is a 2 hour race. You can ride the whole thing on your own (enter solo) or ride it as a relay with a partner. U13 riders can choose to ride in pairs or threes.

Number plate pickup any time after 12:30pm, racing at 2pm.

Riders may do a practice lap around the course between 12:30pm-2:00pm, before racing begins. The course is on private property so there will not be access until then. Please bring your own water and feel free to bring picnics, chairs, etc.

Riders of all ability levels are welcome!

Location: Kirrikee Outdoor Education, Kareela Road, Penrose (this address can be easily found by search on Google maps)

Note: riders may race up an age category but not down. For example, if a 14 year old and a 50 year old want to ride in a pair they can ride in an Open pairs category. A non-e-Bike rider may also pair up with an e-Bike rider if they enter e_Bike pairs.

Ages as at 31/12 eg. U17s are turning 13-16 in 2022. U13s are turning anything up to 12 in 2022.
