Event Info

Start in one location and end in another. All courses start and finish at various trail heads and fortunately, all courses finish at the Telegraph Station so you can grab a coffee after your effort!

It is a Strava Event so you must record your ride. Make sure to like the CARR Strava Page so we can see your ride!

All participants from each course go into a random draw for bike shop vouchers thanks to our Sponsors - Central Clinic Alice Springs.

Complete a scavenger hunt along the way to go into another draw for a $50 voucher - all those registered will be emailed the scavenger hunt list of items and instructions after 10pm, Friday, 30 April. So check your emails before you head out!

You must register before 10pm on Friday to be eligible for the Scavenger Hunt Prize Draw

There will be different coloured tape for each course.

100km - Orange tape start - Lovegrove Trail Head

50km - Orange tape start - Inarlenge Trail Head

30km - Pink tape start - Kurrajong Trail Head

15km - Green tape start - Inarlenge Trail Head


Safety

As this is not an organised event (with starting times and marshalls out on course), you are responsible for your own safety. We can provide you with some tips (follow the What to Bring list) and strongly encourage you to:

  • Ride with others and to your limits

  • Know who to call in case of an emergency.

  • Organise a safety plan with someone - what time they should expect you to finish, where you are riding (and know the course), preferably has a way to get to you if needed.


What to Bring

Participants should bring;

  • A functioning bicycle
  • A helmet that meets Australian standards and is in working order
  • Mobile Phone - working and charged
  • Spare tube and pump
  • Water bottle/hydration pack - enough for the ride
  • Gloves and bike suitable riding attire are also recommended
  • It would be considered best practice to make sure that your bicycle has slimed tubes to reduce your chances of having a flat tyre.
  • Please consider food and snacking options while out there
  • Sunscreen / follow sun safe practices
  • Small first aid kit - snake bite bandages, personal medications that may be required, bandaids/dressings - anything else you deem necessary.

Membership

Membership: Being a member of AusCycling (for new members) or Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA was the older system) is required (or alternatively, a 4-week free trial membership). Make sure to sign up as Central Australian Rough Riders as the local Club (CARR) the Alice Springs mountain bike club.

Step 1:
If you or your son/daughter is not already a member options are:
1. 4 Week Free Trial membership: with AusCycling
2. 1 Year Race membership - Off-Road $50-$150
3. 1 Year Race membership - All Discipline $50-$250

Membership with CARR is free for juniors, supports the club and the development of mountain biking in Alice Springs enormously, and is encouraged.

*If you do not have membership, you will not be classified as participating and will not be insured.
