Paterberg, it’s been said that Flandriens are made of cycling and that’s probably not too far from the truth.
The Belgian region was the birthplace of Avermaet, Boonen and Gilbert, the hardmen of modern cycling. It’s also home to the most famous climb from one of the best one-day bike races of all time – The Paterberg which is part of the infamous Tour of Flanders.
What to expect. Expect to feel like a pro in the early season classics. You’re going to pick your way through the Belgian fields and rolling terrain before the Paterberg bites.
At only 400m long it isn’t an epic, but with an average gradient of 12.5% and a max gradient of 20% the legs will certainly feel it.

Question | Answer |
---|---|
Why? | Quite a number of reasons - Virtual racing is a great opportunity to maintain connection and community during COVID isolation. It is also a good way to maintain some bike fitness and give people a mental break. But mainly because it is fun. |
Why do we need to pre-enter? | We are aiming to make this virtual racing as close to real racing as possible. Separate entry categories are part of this. We will email you a link to your specific race prior to the event. Pre-entry lets us get you into the correct age-category & correct race. |
Can I enter on-the-day or at the last minute? | You are required to be entered by the close of entries so that we can provide you with the entry link. |
Does it cost anything for the RGT software? | RGT offers a basic and premium versions. Both are currently free. See https://www.rgtcycling.com/ |
Will there be series points? | No, this is a fun way to try online racing with other Junior athletes. |
Is RGT the same as Zwift? | It's similar, but there are some differences. Please set RGT up and get familiar with it prior to your event |
Can I jump straight in 5min before I race? | That's a bit risky, so perhaps not a great idea. Get set up and ride a few test runs to make sure you are ready to go prior to your event |
Integrity of results | It's important that you set RGT up with your correct body weight. |
