The best MTB social event night of the year - Join us for an 80's Disco themed 3hr Pony Express

3 hour Pony Express style MTB event, the aim is to get everyone out and celebrate all the fun of Cairns MTB community

We are not playing for keeps, just bragging rights. The list of local supporters is long so instead of fastest laps prizes will be going to all sorts of random lucky draws, but most of all to the best 80's Disco dressed teams.

How a Pony Express works, each rider will complete a lap and then hand over to their team mate and then they do a lap and this goes on until the end of the time period, riders can do multiple laps, but all riders on a team must do at least 1 lap each, All laps must be completed before the time runs out, if you are out on a lap and event finishes that lap doesn't count

This is a Mixed Participation event so you can choose to Race or just Social ride and ride against your friends,

Registration Instructions Below

You don't need a Aus Cycling License to enter in the Social Category

the Cost for Social is $25 the Cost for Race is $25 + day license if required ( if you don't have a Aus cycling race license , you need to purchase a day license )

When you register you can choose either social or race category, the club will be checking all riders license's that have chosen race category on day if you don't have appropriate license or have purchased a day license you will be bump back to social class Their will be no Podium presentations for SOCIAL Class only RACE class

If you don't have a Race-Off Road License PLEASE upgrade by ticking YES to a one day license on the entry form when you enter

Social Categories : Mixed teams, All Male teams, All Female teams

Race Categories : Mixed teams, All Male teams, All Female teams

Register as an individual rider - First one to register for your team will enter the Team Name,

Once there are names in there a drop down for other team names will be available.

No need to register all at the same time.

We will sort the teams prior to racing - and if you don't have a full team - we can put you in a combined one or you can race individually.

IF you have not registered a entry boss account before and you want to social ride when you create an account you will be asked to choose Membership type / Governing body if you dont have an MTB or road cycling license pick N/A in the drop down selection that will allow you to create an account

Event Info

Event site is at Main trail head Mc Gregor Road event site Pony Express Start/ Finish Zone will be in the Main Car Park (closed off to cars) parking will be along Mc Gregor road or down in JCU first carpark, You can drive up to clubhouse and drop off any tents and gear, go park can ride/walk back up to event BBQ running throughout the event so even if you are not racing bring the family out to ride the pump track have a snag and drink.

There will be ample room for some marquees in the Main car park and around the pump track(start/finish) for the rider change over, so bring your own chairs, marquee (first in), lights & setup in our event zone to get close to the atmosphere. Camp lights and spare floodlights recommended.

Event will run from 4pm till 8pm, so the last few laps will be getting dark is sunset is at 6PM

Plate Collection 3-3:30pm

Riders Briefing 3:45pm

Racing from 4pm – Le Mans / Running Start

Presentations Best Dressed and Lucky Draws when racing concludes.

Course Info

Trail Grade - Green/blue trails/ SHORT FAST SPRINT LAP

A course that’s not too technical, but enough of a run track. Sunset is at 6pm so night lappers MUST have suitable lights for both head and handlebars

Length of lap approx 5kms

Compulsory – Helmet and lights required for both head and bars for night laps.
