To wrap up the year we are putting on a special event!
We have arranged for a closed road hill climb and mountain top crit to finish off the year. Following the races, we're throwing a party!
Alivio Tourist Park Road Season pass holders get first preference, and have automatically been entered.
Race Canberra's most iconic climb with UEA Team Emirates World Tour Pro rider and winner of the 2024 La Vuelta King of The Mountains Classification Jay Vine.
Key info:
We are proud to announce that this year's road season will again be sponsored by Alivio Tourist Park. Alivio has provided significant financial support to the clubs over the last few years. Please return the favour and support Alivio by:
For members of the general public wishing to participate:
We'll start with the hill climb (graded bunch start). Riders will start in their grade and race from the base of Black Mountain Drive to the top of the car park. It is a bunch start, with the winner being the first rider to cross the line. This will also double as the CCC and VCC club hill climb championships.
Once all of the grades have departed we'll run another mass start party climb group for everyone else. Ride (or race) at your own pace to the top of the hill.
Once everyone is at the top of the hill we will run short and punchy graded crits around the tight and technical Black Mountain upper car park. Grade sizes will be strictly limited.
You must finish in the top 12 riders in your grade in the hill climb to qualify for the crit. Details below.
Thanks to your clubs, committees, hard-working volunteers and generous supporters, we are throwing a post-race party at Alivio Tourist Park's Verandah. After the presentation for the climb and the crit, expect food, drinks, and music as we watch the sun go down over the city and reflect on the year that was.
Bring your friends, family and good vibes. We will have access to the Alivio swimming pool so for those inclined bring your towel and swimmers too.
Check back closer to the event - expect event times to be adjusted. Start times may be brought forward slightly to accommodate the number of riders who register.
VCC and CCC are teaming up to bring you a combined road calendar for 2024. Each road race is the result of a collaborative effort between the two clubs and is supported by Alivio.
Riders from any club are welcome to participate in this event.
You get:
We suggest you bring your own portable chairs, picnic blankets and extra supplies to make yourself comfortable while watching the action at the top of the hill.
Course Start is at the base of Black Mountain Drive.
There will be no vehicle movements permitted on Black Mountain Drive during the hill climb.
Spectators requiring access to the Black Mountain car parks (see below) may access Black Mtn Drive until approximately 30 minutes before the first wave starts.
Please show the traffic marshal this EntryBoss listing to pass through the control point.
Black Mountain Drive will be completely closed to vehicle movements (including spectator vehicles) from 330pm onwards.
We will use the three on-mountain car parks for the event.
Only park in designated parking bays in the carparks. Do not park on the side of the road.
If you are driving to the event we now suggest that you drive up Black Mountain and park in either of the upper car parks. Then descend on your bike to the bottom for the start. If you are doing this remember the road will be busy and open road conditions will still be in effect, other vehicles and spectators will be coming up the hill. Exercise caution.
Upper Car Park
Vehicles in this parking location may not be able to exit until the completion of all racing, including the crits.
Middle Car Park
This carpark is a short walk to the top of the mountain. Vehicles can exit the mountain from this car park once the last rider and follow vehicle has passed.
Lower Car Park
In the event that the upper and middle carparks are full there will be some capacity in the lower carpark. As with the middle car park, vehicles can exit the mountain from this car park once the last rider and follow vehicle has passed.
This is a special event. We expect to offer a range of great prizes from our supporters and sponsors. We'll update this section of the listing with details as they are locked in.
Winners must attend Alivio to claim their prize
Equal prize money for men and women*.
Total $2,000
Total $1,000
There will be no prizes for the crit - we are racing for bragging rights.
*Riders who have scored UCI points in the two years preceding the race will not be eligible for prizemoney or club medals.

The full black. Our timed course will start at the beginning of the first ramp, and finish at the bitter end of the climb at the top of the car park.
This is a 'mass start' event. The first rider across the line from each grade will be recognised as the winner.
Riders from any club can enter and will be eligible for prizemoney
Riders will start in grade order E --> A and race to the top. Men and women will start in separate waves, with 30 second gaps between each wave.
The highest-placed male and female from VCC and CCC will be recognised as the overall hill climb club champion from each club.
Club medals will be awarded to the first three male and female riders in each grade.
Mass start riders will start shortly after the last grade has rolled away. As the name suggests, all riders will start together and race or ride to the top. This group will also be timed, but no silverware will be awarded.
The top 12 riders from each grade will qualify for the crit.
Course Link: Black Mountain Carpark Crit
Men's and women's grades A through D only.
This will be a tight and technical counterclockwise circuit of the car park at the top of the mountain.
Grade size will be strictly limited to a maximum of 12 riders per grade. You must finish in the top 12 of your grade on the hill climb to qualify.
Expect elimination-style racing - last rider across the line each lap will be withdrawn until the 2 remaining riders sprint for 1st place.
Each race will be 12 laps, including a neutral first lap.
No sheep stations here - just ride, stay safe and have fun.
Riders wanting to enter the hill climb race must request a grade A --> E. Our club grader will then review your requested grade and allocate you to the actual grade you will be racing. This will be published on the 'startlist' section of this listing.
Riders wanting to participate in the mass start ride to the top must select the 'Party Animal' option when registering.
VCC and CCC Season Numbers will be used at this event.
If you have been issued with a VCC or CCC season number ensure you arrive at the event with your number pinned and frame plate correctly fitted to your bike.
Non-VCC and CCC riders who participate will be issued a temporary number and plate that must be returned after the event.
