46th Benghazi Handicap (Anzac Day)

Masters racing for men & women aged 30+ who hold current membership with AusCycling.

All entries required through EntryBoss before entries close. Walk up entries will not be accepted at registration on race day.

  • Duty Roster 2026 - Northern primary members will be required to do two duties in a 12 month period, Northern add-on members & visiting riders who race constantly at our club will be required to do one duty.
  • Please put your name down on our duty roster by accessing signup via the link above and you will be helping provide a safe racing environment at Northern Cycling races.

Race Information

Race Format: Handicap

Circuit: Lancefield

Start Time: Limit Group - 1:00PM

Distance: 77km

Race Fee: $45.00 + $5.00 transponder hire if you do not have one.

Grades: Riders are requested to provide a Grade and a Level to assist with handicapping.

Facilities: Available at the bowls club.


Race Schedule

  • Check-in from 11:00 am on the day at the bowls club. Check-in closes 30 minutes before the advertised start time of the Limit bunch.
  • Do not arrive at the last minute - allow yourself enough time to attach your race number and transponder.
  • Multiple bunches will be on the course at any given time. Be respectful as you overtake / are overtaken.

On the Day

  • Upon arrival please confirm your attendance at the check-in desk and receive your race number / transponder / tail light if required.

  • A rider briefing will be conducted before each bunch roll away. Please be ready when your bunch is called.

  • After finishing the race ALL riders must exit the course as fast and safely as possible, as other riders may still be racing.

  • ALL riders must ensure that they return any rental racing number / transponder / tail light to the check-in desk post racing.

  • Place getters please wait for presentations and photos at the conclusion of the race after all riders are finished.

  • Cameras will be actively taking video and photos during and post races at presentations for sharing on social media.

  • Multiple bunches will be racing at the same time, when passing other bunches or riders, stay wide and do not cut in until well past.

  • ALL riders are expected to show respect and courtesy to other riders, spectators and event officials. Any anti-social or abusive behaviour may result in suspension from future Northern Cycling races.

  • Racing is conducted under AusCycling rules and Victorian Road rules. By entering you are agreeing to comply with all required rules and directions provided by Northern Cycling officials and marshals and acknowledging that you may be disqualified for any breach of these rules.

2026 Penalties:

  • Forgot tail light or tail light not compliant - tail light rental available for $5.00
  • Forgot transponder - transponder rental available for $5.00.
  • Forgot race number - number rental available for $5.00.
  • Lost blue or red transponder - $55 to replace.
  • Lost race number - $10 to replace.

Scratching and Cancellation

  • Scratching - Scratching is a self-serve, automated refund via EntryBoss if withdrawing within scratching cut-off time limit.
  • Event Cancellation - Riders will be provided with a full refund if the event is cancelled for any reason.
  • Refunds - Refunds will not be provided for no-shows or if you scratch after the cut off.

Qualification for Major Awards

Northern Cycling has 3 major awards each calendar year:

Graded Criterium Championship, Club Championship, and Aggregate Award.

Aggregate award points are allocated for Northern Cycling's graded scratch and handicap events. Qualification and points allocation starts from our first club race in January to our last race in December or starting from the date you joined Northern Cycling for new members.

Qualification requirements for Northern Cycling Major Awards:

  • Riders must be a Northern Cycling primary or add-on member for at least 6 months prior to the event / award.

  • Riders must have competed in 6 Northern Cycling events in the prior 12 months - 2 of which must be handicap races for the club championship race and aggregate award (Qualification will also include any intra club events that Northern Cycling are participating in).

  • Riders must have completed, or be registered to complete, their duty requirements within the calendar year.
