About

  • Cairns Cycling Club proudly presents the MiHaven Tablelands Tour. A 3 stage race held over the weekends of Saturday 24/8/24 (2 stages per grade) and Sunday 25/8/24 (1 stage per grade and a separate juniors only stage) and a Gran Fondo.
  • Points will be awarded for the winner of each stage and 4 placegetters from 2nd to 5th. Cumulative points will be used to decide the overall winner of the tour for each grade.

Courses & stages:

Stage 1

is on a course of a 11.6KM lap starting and finishing at Butcher's Creek Hall and featuring a 2.8KM hilly gravel section along Fisk Rd:

Stage 2

is a 10KM lap starting with a neutral roll out to the course at the intersection of Topaz Rd and Russell Rd and down to the start/finish line approx 300m before the intersection Russell Rd and Heidke Rd. Racing will commence from the start/finish line followed by a set number of laps per grade.

Senior Stage 3

for the open grades is on a course of sealed and gravel roads around Lake Tinaroo. It starts on Boar Pocket Rd approx 1KM from the intersection with the Gillies Hwy and finishes in the town of Kairi.

Junior Stage 3

On a closed off street circuit at Evans Park, Atherton. This stage will feature multiple 500m laps of the Evans Park cycleway for junior categories.

Registration for the tour is:

  • $80 (seniors)
  • $40 (juniors)

  • Online registration for the tour closes 6pm 22/8/24.

Scratching

  • Entrants can withdraw with a self-serve, automated refund within EntryBoss. Scratching closes at the same time as entries. Use the SCRATCH button on the race entry page to scratch.

Grades and distances per stage:

Course 1

  • A Grade - 4 laps (46.4km)
  • B Grade - 3 laps (34.8km)
  • C, D and Women's Grades - 2 laps (23.2km)
  • Juniors - 1 lap (11.6KM)

Course 2

  • A Grade - 4 laps (40km)
  • B Grade - 3 laps (30km)
  • C, D and Women's Grades - 2 laps (20km)
  • Juniors - 2 laps (20KM)

Course 3 Open

  • All grades - 46km

Course 3 Junior

  • Multiple laps dependent on age group

Notes:
* Junior category entrants may be combined with other categories and/or grades dependent on entry numbers and ability.
* All competitors are to use a rear light when racing.

Facilities & Race Day Reminders

  • Bring your club race numbers
  • Parking - it is important that you park off the race circuit. For stages 1 and 2 the race start will be at Butcher's Creek Hall (Cnr Topaz and Fisk Roads, Butchers Creek QLD) where parking, changerooms and toilets are available.
    There is very limited parking at the start line for Stage 3 and no toilet or changing facilities. Entrants will need to make their own arrangements before arriving at the start line.
    There is parking and toilet facilities at the finish line in Kairi township.
  • Road conditions These are narrow rural roads and may have loose gravel and potholes. The majority of the course is gravel section & may have some water damage. Bear this in mind when deciding what wheels and tyres to use.
  • Warming up - riders are requested to warm-up prior to the race program commencing.
  • Course Closure (traffic management) - the course is not closed to traffic and riders must follow road rules and the directions of marshalls.

Volunteers

Races cannot proceed without marshalls in vehicles with each group and help with setting up and packing down. Please let us know if you can help out by indicating your availability when you signup.


Shuttle for stage 3 - Lake Tinaroo

Our transport partners, Reef to Rainforest Rides, are offering you and your bike a lift to and from Kairi. You can park your car at Kairi and they will bring you to the start line at Boar Pocket Rd. Or you can park at Lake Barrine and they will bring you back there at the end of the ride. More details and bookings here:
