XCM comes to First Turkey MTB Reserve!

Be part of history with the inaugural Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club Inc. Cross-Country Marathon Mountain Bike event, kindly sponsored by Trek Rockhampton!

To take advantage of the cool winter weather, this daytime race will be held from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 29 June 2024, which also allows riders to enjoy the scenic course, consisting of three laps of a 21km circuit with 414m elevation - 63km and 1,242m in total. Tackle it solo if you're keen or make up a team of three and do a lap each!

Rocky MTB aims to be inclusive with separate categories for a variety of ages, genders and even e-bikers!

Cross-Country Marathon (XCM) utilises a course of between 60km and 160km. The event can be run in the following formats: single loop; point-to-point; or over a maximum of three laps. In the event of a single lap format, no part of the course may be covered twice. In the event of a multi-lap event, short cuts for some classes are not permitted.

Entry Fees

  • Senior $30 per rider
  • Junior $15 per rider

Race Schedule

  • Race Plate allocation: 8:30am - 9:30am
  • Rider Briefing: 9:45am
  • Start time: 10:00am for all categories
  • Race duration: 6 hours
  • Cutoff time for starting last lap: 2:30pm


  • This event is conducted in accordance with AusCycling Policies and Rules.
  • An AusCycling Race Membership or Event Licence is mandatory.
  • Riders must comply with any additional rules advised during the Rider Briefing.
  • Fastest time wins each category.

Event Cancellation

If the event has to be cancelled due to extreme weather, a notification will be posted on the Rocky MTB Facebook page.


  • All vehicles must be parked either in the German Street carpark, on the adjacent Lyle Albert Dobbs Reserve or on the eastern verge at the southern end of German Street.
  • Do not park on Sunset Avenue.

Venue Rules

  • Care for the natural environment.
  • Remove all rubbish, including Race Plate cable ties.
  • Respect local residents.


  • Category place getters will receive a Race Certificate.
  • There are no podium prizes other than the glory of mounting the podium and being immortalised via social media.
  • Sponsor prizes will be offered as a random draw after the race.
