2024 Burnside Women's Health Gravity Girls Race Series

About the Race Series

The Burnside Women's Health Gravity Girls Race Series is a three part women’s race series aimed at introducing women to racing in a supportive environment and fostering an interest and understanding of racing so that they can enter the current racing pathway with confidence and knowledge.

There are competitive entry categories for those who want to challenge themselves and enjoy the opportunity to race against the clock.

There are also non-competitive categories for those who want to experience the event and ride on closed trails in a structed environment without the pressure of competition.

The races are open to all females 10 years and above who have a current AusCycling All-Discipline or Off-Road race license.

Race 3 - Downhill - Sunday 14th April, 2024

Presented by Forestry SA / Fox Creek Bike Park - Blue Groove

About Downhill Racing

Riders complete one predominantly downhill track in the shortest possible time. Riders begin the day with a track walk, and then get the opportunity to do multiple practice runs before their race run. All riders must complete at least one practice run. Riders will be driven back up the hill using shuttle buses.

Entry Categories

The following female categories are available:

Category
Competitive
Just for fun
E-bike
Junior (combined U17/U19)
Junior (combined U13/U15)

Minimum age is 10 years old.

Riders must stay in the same category across all events.

Please check the following things before you enter.

  • You must have a current AusCycling off-road racing membership.
  • Your EntryBoss account must have the correct AusCycling membership number.

You will need a current AusCycling All-Discipline or Off-Road license to ride these events for insurance purposes. You do not have to be a member of Gravity Girls SA.

Bring your license card / digital membership with you to sign-on! If this is your first try at racing you can get a FREE 4 week trial membership (only for people who have not held a CA or MTBA membership in the last 3 years). The 4 week trial membership commences from the day you sign up to the trial, so if you are considering a trial membership and wish to compete in all 3 races of the series, we suggest only commencing the trial a day or two before the first race. You can also buy a day license.

To be a member of Gravity Girls SA, head to https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership to pick the license that is right for you and choose Gravity Girls SA to join our club!

Rules

The rules are here to keep everyone safe and ensure good sportsmanship. Whether you’re a competitive racer or just racing for fun, the same rules apply. Not respecting the rules will result in a time penalty, disqualification or potential ban from racing

All race entrants must attend the race briefing, held in the event village prior to the commencement of competition.

Transport (shuttles) to be used, is that supplied by the club. You are not to use any transport other than the official transport supplied by Gravity Girls SA for practice and racing.

Do not use offensive or abusive language during the race, act in any anti-sporting manner, be disrespectful to the event volunteers/officials or ignore the race regulations.

You are not permitted to shortcut the course. If you do not follow the official route you will be disqualified.

Riders are not permitted to alter the course in any way without first consulting with race officials. This includes moving rocks, logs, tape or other natural obstacles.

Riders must act in a sporting manner at all times, and when it is safe to do so, permit any faster rider to overtake without deliberately obstructing them.

If you do not finish (DNF) the race, you must notify the timing station or closest course marshal. This ensures that all competitors are accounted for.

Location and Course

The race village will be set up near the bottom car park at Fox Creek Bike Park. Parking will be in the lower car park area. Additional parking will be made available once the car park is full - strictly no parking on the road verge.

The track will be Blue Groove, which is a blue rated trail. Riders will be dropped by Shuttle Bus at the middle car park on Croft Road and can traverse to the race start point down the fire road.

There will also be a Gravity Girls reccy ride of the course on Saturday 9th March. Please register via TidyHQ. This will cost $30 for members and $40 for non-members to cover the cost of shuttles. https://ggsai.tidyhq.com/

Timing and Race Plates

Competitors will be required to wear a timing chip on their right wrist, which they will be given at race check-in. There will be timing beacons at the start and end of the course to record the race time. Competitors will be required to return their timing chips at the end of the race to record their race time.

Race plates will be provided to participants at the first race of the series. Competitors will keep their race plates for the duration of the race series and are expected to bring their own race plate to each event. If riders forget their race plates, they will be charged $50 for a replacement plate.
