The Hour of Power Time Trial Session 2 of 3.
5:15PM
The Hour of Power is a social event for club members aiming to improve their power and endurance on a road bike and develop pacing and fueling knowledge over an timed event.
Entrants can choose to ride individually or in teams of two.
We will record individual (man, woman or junior) and team of two rider distances travelled (as reported on Garmin/Wahoo/Bike Computer) over a 30 min - 1 hr period (you set the time you wish to ride beforehand) at Smith Park Velodrome. A leaderboard will be created over the 3 events (collated) in each category.
Requirements: * Road bike that meets age-specific rollout * Working bike computer to record distance travelled (to be shared if working in a team of 2) * Capacity to handle the pace of a 30 min- 1 hour ride individually or with your partner.
Rules/State of Play: * Garmin set to 0km at start. At whistle, riders start riding as individuals or 1st team member. * Once riding on track drafting is allowed. * Slower riders are to move to the top of the track. * Rules of the road apply (indicating intentions when overtaking or going up or down track; no overtaking on the left when leading rider in sprint lane) * Teams of 2 must communicate to determine changeover times between team-members. Resting team-member can wait along fenceline at top of track area clipped in to pedals. * At the 28th and 58th minute mark, a whistle will sound to advise riders of the approaching time-limit. * At the 30 min and 60 minute mark, a bell will sound and the call of “stop” will be given. Depending on ride time category - riders, regardless of location on the track, are to come to an immediate stop at the top of the track fenceline when safe to do so. The are to then pause their Garmin and bring them to the event coordinator for recording. Please don't impede other riders still completing their TT. * In the event of a crash or other dangerous situation, the event coordinator will notify riders using the red flag and provide verbal instructions. Once red flag is used riders are to pause their Garmin's until track is clear and event can resume.
