Norwood Cycling Club acknowledges the Peramangk people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the Rocky Creek Gravel Kermesse takes place. We acknowledge not only this ancestral relationship, but also the ongoing deep feelings of attachment and relationship of the people of these nations to Country. We respect and value their past, present and ongoing connection to the land and cultural beliefs. We also pay our respects to their Elders past and present. In addition, we extend that respect to other Aboriginal Language Groups and other First Nations.

Mount Crawford Gravel Race

NCC are delighted to announce the next of our gravel races! Taking place within Mount Crawford Forest, this is an all closed road, gravel kermesse using the Forestry SA fire roads within this section of Mount Crawford. The terrain and surfaces you will be encountering on this course will require a bike with a minimum of 32mm gravel/cx tyres. While there are no rules saying you cant run a narrower tyre, i wouldn't recommend it! The ideal setup would be 40mm (approx) tubeless tyres. A cyclocross bike/Gravel Bike/hardtail MTB would all make great options!

Entries close at Thursday 17th of November. This event is open to ALL clubs and Auscycling licensed riders. Four week free trial memberships are available for this event. As this is a off-road event, riders are permitted to race on a "race off-road license," aka MTB or BMX race license.

Gravel Groms Free (no timing tag required)

PACC timing Tag $6 - (if you have been issued with a PACC timing tag from CX or their TT's bring it along as we are teaming up with PACC to have live timing for this event!)

It is a requirement of racing that you have a PACC timing tag, so if you don't already have a PACC timing tag, please add it to your entry when nominating. Your timing tag will be available for collection at the Registration Desk, along with your race number. If you have lost or damaged yours, please purchase one when you register. If you forget yours you can buy one on the day for $10.

Mechanicals, and Pits/feed zone
In the event of any repairable mechanical, riders should aim to be self sufficient on course - Carry a tube and/or a tubeless plug, a CO2 canister or pump etc. If the mechanical is not immediately repairable but the rider would like to continue in the race, they must follow the course until reaching the pits.

In the event of a race ending mechanical, riders should make their way back to the start area and alert the chief commissaire of their DNF.

Feeding is available to riders in the pits area, which will be located before the finish line. No other feeding is permitted on course.

Podiums and prizes
Each race will have its own podium recognising riders who pushed the hardest,, as well as those who showed great spirit, and "gravel gusto", with great prizes from the events sponsors.

Presentations for the junior races will be after the start of the Senior racing, and the Senior race presentations will be after the conclusion of all the races for the day. There will be food and drinks available at the sign on area, so hang around and cheer on the riders as they take on the course.

race categories -

Grading gravel is best kept for the maintenance of non sealed roads, so for this instalment of our gravel races, we've decided to try out distance based racing rather than graded/distance racing. "Wide angle" Mens and Womens podiums will be awarded for each of the categories of racing. This is an evolving discipline, so we are making the decision to try something new, and learn from the experience as we move forward!

Cut off times While we endeavour to make our events as inclusive as possible, we have limits to our park booking as well as logistical realities of packing up after racing that mean we will enforce a cutoff time for the longest of our distance categories. The commsiares will make this decision based on rider speeds on course on the day.

Donuts Yes! Every finisher gets a donut!
