50 Laps

CCC Zwift Handicap Race – Sunday 13 February 2022 at 8am

Neokyo All-Nighter (24.3km, 167m elevation, lead-in 0.3km).

PRE-RACE INFORMATION

  • This event will be run as a Meetup in Zwift. When Zwift Clubs comes online (next few weeks hopefully) organising races will be simpler. In the meantime, if you wish to race please Friend Vic R (AHDR) in Zwift who will arrange the Meetup.
  • Please supply your best lap time for Neokyo All-Nighter (https://www.strava.com/segments/30407658) ASAP so that we can calculate your handicap and start time. This can be done via message in Entryboss or by email to junior_road@cairnscyclingclub.com.au or through Facebook Messenger to Vic James.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Ensure on the day that your weight in Zwift is correct and that the difficulty setting is set at 100%
  • Join Meetup at least 7 minutes prior to your race start time so you can manage Zwift dropout if it occurs before race start.
  • We will be on Discord from 7:50am.
  • Add CCC after your name in brackets on Zwift Companion - essential for timings.
  • Race distance is one lap of Neokyo All-Nighter. The race ends under the same virtual banner where you started.
  • Kit – you are welcome to wear whatever kit you like. The Meetup will be private so you will only see other competitors on the road.
  • Road bikes only please; no TT bikes.
  • We are on Discord: https://discord.gg/zGsEPE3
  • Please join our Strava Group: https://www.strava.com/clubs/cairns-cycling-club-43073
  • Please keep messages and chatter on Discord clean – we will have juniors competing! Grunts, screams, race banter, and noises of buckets being filled are all AOK!.

DESCRIPTION

  • This is a race with a difference: all riders will be given a time handicap so that everyone has a chance to win. The handicaps will work so that, in theory, everyone arrives at the finish line more or less at the same time, whatever your w/kg or FTP. This is an event to bring everyone together in a more inclusive race, whether they are juniors, ladies, sub 2 W/Kg, Cat A, etc. It is therefore important that you submit accurate information on your best time on the course.

  • The slowest rider will set off first; the scratch rider chases everyone down. We will set riders off at timed intervals and will post in advance a list of start times, so you won't have to hang around too long if you're a faster rider.

  • Don't start until your start time, as we use the times on Strava for timings. We will use use Zwift chat and Discord to give each competitor the GO GO GO but, in case of any problems, please use an online clock such as www.time.is and set off at your allocated start time. Alternatively, you can set up your own personal web countdown timer, e.g., http://www.webcountdown.net/- once set up, you don't need to remember your start time in the heat of the moment - just watch the timer hit zero. When you set it up, you get a unique URL for your timer - just save it to your Bookmarks/Favourites and recall it on race day.

RESULTS

  • The winners will be the first across the line and the fastest time overall using Strava course information. Race results will be posted as soon as possible on the CCC Facebook page. Riders will have an asterisk by their result to indicate that their handicap may have been inaccurate, whether too lenient or too harsh.
