Riding bikes is fun. Pedal Heads Inc want to share their passion for Mountain bikes with our local community, that's why we are hosting a Winter Race Series for all levels. Non Members are welcome.

About the Pedal Heads Open Club Championship

There are a few weeks left until the end of 2021 and we will organise two more races to crown the inaugural Pedal Heads Club Champions - of course all riders and members of other clubs are welcome!
Pedal Heads can check their points standings here: https://pedalheads.org.au/pedal-heads-club-championship-standing/. The Club Champions will be the Pedal Heads with the most points in their categories from the 6 races minus one scratch result.

Race 5 will continue the format we have developed, albeit with a little twist. This time we will set up 2 stages: the top of Dreaming Pools (to the first fire road, followed by a climb back to Loila Tier on the fire road - which is of course not timed!) and Send Helen's (same as Race 1 from the Icarus turn off to the Old Salty intersection). As always you can practise as much as you like (in fact we encourage it!) and on race day you will have a three hour window to ride as often as you like in pursuit of your own personal best. We will celebrate the fastest person in each category of each race.

About Race 5 - Dreaming Pools & Send Helen's

The top of Dreaming Pools is flowy and fast, with quite a few jumps, berms and twists. It's probably not the trail riders may have thought of as a race stage, but that will just make it all the more exciting. Yes, we know the climb back up will strain your tired muscles but remember the motto of the race: No Pain No Gain. And of course the climb is not timed!

Send Helen's is of course a classic: a selection of our finest jumps, berms and a few technical sections strewn in for good measure.

Juniors: For our youngest racers (U9 & U11) we will not time the Dreaming Pools stage so they don't have to climb back up to Loila Tier. Everyone else (U13 & older) will race both stages!

Before you jump in & sign up

Please note that you need to have an MTBA or AusCycling RACE or DAY license - please check before you sign up. We're sure your bike is in great nick, with working brakes, no play in the bearings and plugged bar ends. Since we'll be racing on gravity trails we'll require you to bring your full face helmet (we accept models with removable chin bars). Juniors will be required to wear knee & long sleeves or elbow guards & full finger gloves but we hope everyone will be wearing those. Neck, back protection & body armour is recommended.

If you don't want to race

That's not a reason to stay at home! We need marshals to help keep our riders safe, and spectators who cheer them on. In any case bring something to make a lot of noise with!
