Summer Gravity Series Round 5

About

The Albany MTB club is proud to present the third instalment of the club summer gravity series. The gravity series is designed to introduce riders to gravity racing (Downhill and Gravity Enduro) and to provide an opportunity to practice skills for those entering the state series races. The aim is fun over competitiveness, but the racing will be timed, and prizes awarded after the completion of the final Thursday race.

A competitor’s best 4 results from the 6 races will count towards the series championship. In the event of a tie, the competitor with the best result from the final race will be deemed to place higher.

  • Where: HQ set up at trail hub on Poikeclerup Road, Nanarup.
  • Sign in Desk Open : 17:00-17:30
  • Race Start (all categories) : 17:30
  • Presentations : Thursday 6 March approx 18:30

THE FORMAT:

November 21 – Poikies Trail #2
December 5 – Poikies Trail #1
February 6 – Mt Clarence DH
February 20 – Poikies Trail #3
March 6 – Mt Clarence DH into Pilot Trail and series presentations

Each Thursday event, competitors have a one-hour period (5.30-6.30pm) to complete a timed run down the week’s race stage. Competitors may complete as many timed runs as they can fit in the hour, but please be mindful of other competitors trying to complete their race runs.

No qualifying runs. All timed runs count. An individual’s fastest run will be their time for the week’s stage.

There are no set start orders. Competitors are requested to leave suitable time gap, recommended 20 seconds, between yourself and the competitor before you. Riders are requested to self-seed into groups of similar speed riders to speed up the process.

No vehicle shuttling is permitted, all riders must make their own way to the start line for each run.

EVENT DIVISIONS: Male and female: Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, Open, Masters 40+, Open ebike.

As the series runs through 2024 and into 2025 competitors must enter their age category for 2025. Your competition age will be calculated based on your age on 31 December 2025. Eg: A competitor born on the 25 November 2010, while only 13 at the first event is still required to enter the Under 17 Division as they will be 15 on 31 December 2025 and therefore not eligible for Under 15.

PRACTICE: Riders are expected to have completed one practice lap of the course prior to the 5.30pm racing time. Practice may occur during or prior to the 5.00-5.30pm registration period.

EQUIPMENT: Full face helmets are compulsory. Riders eligible for categories Under 17 and below must wear full finger gloves, full length jersey (covering elbows) and knee pads. If you do not have the required equipment please contact president@albanymtb.com or leave a message on the club facebook page @albanymtbclub and Albany MTB club will try and locate some suitable loan gear so that you are able to participate

PRIZES AND AWARDS: Winners for the summer gravity series will be based on points accumulated from each week’s race. Awards for each division will be presented following the race on Thursday 6th March. POINTS TABLE: https://albanymtb.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/points.pdf

PARKING: Parking is available in the lower section for all vehicles. Please keep the roadway clear for Emergency Vehicles and be mindful of riders.
