2024 Burnside Women's Health Gravity Girls Race Series

About the Race Series

The Burnside Women's Health Gravity Girls Race Series is a three part women’s race series aimed at introducing women to racing in a supportive environment and fostering an interest and understanding of racing so that they can enter the current racing pathway with confidence and knowledge.

There are competitive entry categories for those who want to challenge themselves and enjoy the opportunity to race against the clock.

There are also non-competitive categories for those who want to experience the event and ride on closed trails in a structed environment without the pressure of competition.

The races are open to all females 10 years and above who have a current AusCycling All-Discipline or Off-Road race license.

Race 2 - Gravity Enduro - Sunday 7th April, 2024 - presented by Will Ride

O'Halloran Hill Recreation Ground

About Gravity Enduro Racing

The Gravity Enduro race is based on the format of Gravity Enduro SA races and the UCI Enduro World Cup (EDR). A course has a number of timed descending stages (3-5 stages, depending on race category) linked together with untimed liaison stages. Riders must get through the entire course under their own steam within a set time limit.

Riders start each timed section individually, with at least a 30 second gap between each rider. The rider with the lowest total time across all timed sections will win.

This event will be in a "super-enduro" format, where riders will be allowed to have multiple attempts at their timed race runs, with their fastest time in each stage being recorded as their race run.

Entry Categories & Fees

The following female categories are available:

Category Timed Stages
Competitive 5 stages
Just for fun 4 stages
E-bike (competitive) 5 stages
Junior U17/U19 (competitive) 5 stages
Junior U13/U15 (competitive) 3 stages

Minimum age is 10 years old.

Riders must stay in the same category across all events.

Please check the following things before you enter.

  • You must have a current AusCycling off-road racing membership.
  • Your EntryBoss account must have the correct AusCycling membership number.

You will need a current AusCycling All-Discipline or Off-Road license to ride these events for insurance purposes. You do not have to be a member of Gravity Girls SA.

Bring your license card / digital membership with you to sign-on! If this is your first try at racing you can get a FREE 4 week trial membership (only for people who have not held a CA or MTBA membership in the last 3 years). The 4 week trial membership commences from the day you sign up to the trial, so if you are considering a trial membership and wish to compete in all 3 races of the series, we suggest only commencing the trial a day or two before the first race. You can also buy a day license.

To be a member of Gravity Girls SA, head to https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership to pick the license that is right for you and choose Gravity Girls SA to join our club!

Rules

The rules are here to keep everyone safe and ensure good sportsmanship. Whether you’re a competitive racer or just racing for fun, the same rules apply. Not respecting the rules will result in a time penalty, disqualification or potential ban from racing.

A course preview can be viewed at https://youtu.be/rHZxKIulEJs?si=fWHtYlrOf3_-fogK

Other Gravity Enduro events only publish course maps one or two days prior to the race, however we are mindful that many of our participants may be racing for the first time and will appreciate plenty of time to practice and view the course prior to the event.

There will also be a Gravity Girls reccy ride of the course on Saturday 16th March. Please register via TidyHQ. This is free for members, and $10 for non-members (with Auscycling membership). https://ggsai.tidyhq.com/

Timing and Race Plates

Competitors will be required to wear a timing chip on their right wrist, which they will be given at race check-in. There will be timing beacons at the start and end of each timed run to record the race time. Competitors will be required to return their timing chips at the end of the race to record their race time.

Race plates will be provided to participants at the first race of the series. Competitors will keep their race plates for the duration of the race series and are expected to bring their own race plate to each event. If riders forget their race plates, they will be charged $50 for a replacement plate.

Clothing and Equipment

Each rider must be self-sufficient during the entire duration of the race. Riders must wear a helmet at all times during competition, including during the liaison stages.

Full faced helmets are strongly encouraged for all competitors and are compulsory for riders in competitive categories.

All riders eligible to compete in Under 13, 15 and Under 17 categories must wear: - full-finger gloves
- full length jersey, which must cover elbows at all times
- knee pads and elbow pads at all times.

All other riders are encouraged to wear the above safety equipment.

Presentations

There will be a brief presentation of podium places for each competitive category at the conclusion of the race. Prizes, if any, will be decided in conjunction with sponsors.
