The Jets is a Junior Development Program designed and administered by Cycling Queensland. The program is targeted at junior cyclists that aspire to achieve personal best cycling performances in both track and road disciplines. It is a supplementary program to club and regional training sessions and events. The program is designed to be inclusive and give athletes additional training, camps and opportunities to assist with overall development and progression in the sport of cycling.
The Jets program includes facilitated training sessions each week which are held at the Anna Meares Velodrome and on occasions the Murarrie and Nundah Criterium Circuits. The purpose of training activities is to teach fundamental skills, tactics and bike riding techniques to assist riders in both track and road training and racing environments.
Athletes participating in the Jets program need to have previous track riding experience and accreditation to ride on the AMV. Those new to track cycling are encouraged to attend the junior track development sessions at the Chandler velodrome on Thursday evenings.
