Jindabyne Cycling Club, in partnership with Jindabyne Trail Stewardship and Pit Viper, are throwing a festive season bash for kids and youth to farewell 2026 in style. The Santa Slay by Pit Viper is shuttled gravity flow racing on the Lake Jindabyne Trail Reserve trails followed by an evening BBQ by the lake. Price is all inclusive.
WIth a variety of new trails to choose from, this year we're introducing a youth category and allocating separate categories to separate trails. The goal here is age appropriate challenge and cleaner race runs.

Notes:
Yep, but try to score a freebie
For insurance purposes, all riders need to be current race members of AusCycling. If your child/youth hasn't held a race licence before, we suggest taking up a free trial membership here: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/free-trial If you've used the freebie previously, other options are:
Please consider becoming a member of the Jindabyne Cycling Club when joining AusCycling. It's free for juniors and $20 for adults.
Can I drop my kids and run? No. While riders will be circuiting in marshalled groups, we'd appreciate if parents could still be around to cheer the riders on and join the BBQ. Smaller Mini Grom category riders may need an older riding buddy. Any beach swimming needs parental supervision.
Where do I park? Parking is available at the Rainbow Drive carpark, with overflow in the paddock below Echidna Place. Please ensure all off-street parking is filled before using on-street parking.
Yes! While JCC think it's a great idea to hand out our expensive timing equipment to a bunch of sugared up kiddies/teens, if parents could please ensure timing chips are returned we'd very much appreciate that. Replacement cost for the chip is $140.
Sanctioning and regulations
This is an AusCycling sanctioned 'Bronze' level event that will follow the technical regulations for downhill in a very loose kid friendly way.
Course and number of runs
The race course allocated to each age category is the only course riders in the relevant category may lap. Riders may lap their course as many times as they like in the 2 hour timing period, with the rider's fastest TWO runs combined to give their finishing result.
Riders will start in 30 second or longer intervals (more where larger kids follow smaller) with caught riders to yield to faster riders when safe to do so.
Shuttles for all riders are available up Rainbow Drive from Echidna Place. Further 4WD shuttles are available for Not a Grom/Youth riders from the Mill Creek Trail to the Tyrolean Trig.
Safety, safety, safety!
