NB Junior Group will be split this week to allow for better variation in abilities.
CRITERIUM TRAINING Back bigger and better than ever - NCC is excited to be extending our fortnightly criterium training to include catering for our growing number of new women's racers.
The sessions will all have a similar format, with an initial portion of the session dedicated to skill development (eg how to nail a corner, whether you are in a race, or out on the road), before moving onto bunch and racing craft (eg attacking the bunch, swapping turns) and finally some fun little race simulation scenarios! The sessions aren't meant to leave you exhausted, but help you become a better bike rider whilst having a bit of fun along the way.
The goals of our 2022/23 training are:
* Increase the level of stoke for bike racing (especially crits);
* Help those attending increase their general bike handling skill set, and provide a structured sessions to help with increasing race fitness;
* Empower riders to take the next steps in their racing/riding;
* To continue to help build the community around the oldest cycling club in the southern hemisphere.
What to expect: NCC has welcomed a number of new coaches into the fold leading into 2022/23. And with that we hope to be able to maintain good coach to rider ratios at every session, enabling us to split the groups up into smaller groups for some better coaching support.
Although we target this session at criterium racing, we still welcome those who aren't yet racing, aren't sure about racing, and don't want to race.
