*** NCC have made the decision to create a new course for the Barry Skinner Classic for 2022. While the course has changed quite a few times over the last few years, we see this course as an evolution of last years course, rather than a whole new race altogether. This course is an expansion of the finishing circuit from the 2021 edition, as now in 2022 riders will race four laps of the 20km loop, riding between Glossop, Loveday and passing back through Winkie toward the completion of each lap.
Getting the race off the highway was a key priority for for 2022, as our clubs days of running open road handicaps are over. With this move away from the highway, we have taken the opportunity to develop a course which has fully closed roads for the entirety of the race! The move to closed roads will provide the best racing experience for riders, and the safest race conditions for riders and the community alike.
With this massive increase in delivery from the club, there is an increase in entry cost which is necessary to try and begin to cover the traffic management costs associated with running an event like this. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me (Max, or Wayne) about any aspect of the race that you might be unsure about! If you need help with your entry fee, please message us and there are a few volunteer roles on the weekend which will score you a free entry.
Closed road road races are a monumental undertaking for a club, and come with much greater costs, and a lot of behind the scenes logistical work. NCC would like to the Berri Council for their support in growing the event, Jake and the team at Auscycling SA for their endless logistical support and advice, and Lachie (in an entirely volunteer capacity!) for taking the time to develop the courses and traffic management plans for both days of the Tour of the Riverland for 2022!
Juniors - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38842053 **- please note that all Saturday sign on, and racing starts at the corner of Winkie road and Dalziel Road, (see the course map for more details). There will be parking on Winkie road, as well as Morey Road. Please do not warm up on the highway, or ride from the berri hotel to the race start. **
Sunday See Separate Entryboss listing for further information on sunday! https://entryboss.cc/races/10872
