The Event

Two eBike competitions

Organised by CORC — Canberra Off-Road Cyclists — this proposed E-MTB event features two connected competitions, the E-XCO race and the E-XCE, bringing together rider skill, electric-bike performance and category-based competition. eBike Lab is responsible for bike inspection only.

Competition formats - E-XCO + E-XCE

Competition 01 - E-XCO

E-Cross Country

The main race: riders compete by proposed category on a purpose-built E-MTB circuit that tests skill, power management and consistency.

• Category-based starts
• Bikes cleared through professional inspection
• Final race duration and laps to be confirmed

Competition 02 - E-XCE

E-Cross Country Eliminator

A knockout race after the E-XCO. The top 8 E-XCO finishers race head-to-head on a dedicated short course.

• Top 8 E-XCO finishers qualify
• Two heats of four, starting together; each heat designed to last no more than 1 minute
• Top 2 from each heat advance to a 4-rider final

Long-term vision

From test event to national series

The inaugural event will operate as a controlled test platform. Race data and rider feedback will help refine category thresholds, inspection protocols, race duration and course design before the format expands into standalone events, state championships and a national E-MTB series.

SL - Under 60NM * Lightweight E-MTB platforms producing less than 60 Nm of torque.

Open - Up to 750 W maximum power * Standard and race-focused E-MTB platforms producing no more than 750 W of maximum motor power.

Open Plus - Above 750 W maximum power * Higher-performance E-MTB platforms producing more than 750 W of maximum motor power.

UCI Drive Units - Approved competition systems * A competition category for bikes equipped with eligible UCI-approved drive units.

All participants must have a valid Auscycling Race license. This includes all juniors. The Auscyclinc license ensures all riders are covered for personal accident and public liability insurance . Auscycling does have a 4 week free trial for those that have not had a license in the last 3 years. Details of the Auscycling free four week trial can be found here
