This Fast & Furious circuit is one of Geelong Surf Coast Cycling Club's fav's. Covering 38 kilometres over three laps, this race rewards riders who can work together, judge the pace to perfection, and still have enough left for the all-important sprint to the finish on Larcombes Road (A). From the moment the starter drops the flag, groups will be chasing, bridging and defending their handicap. The quiet roads through the farming country around Paraparap offer little opportunity to relax. Long, exposed straights, sweeping bends and undulating terrain ensure the race is constantly changing, with every rider needing to contribute if their bunch is to survive the relentless pursuit from behind. The winter landscape may look peaceful, but don't be fooled. Cool temperatures, open paddocks and the ever-present possibility of a crosswind can quickly turn a comfortable bunch into a race of attrition. Communication, smooth rotations and smart tactics will be just as important as strong legs. Whether you're racing for the overall win, the fastest time, or simply trying to stay with your bunch, the Fast & Furious circuit promises everything that makes handicap racing so addictive - strategy, teamwork, determination and a thrilling finish.
