As the temperatures begin to drop and winter approaches, this week’s race marks our final hit-out before we take a short break until we return to racing in August. Riders will want to head into the break on a high, but first they’ll need to survive a demanding morning on the familiar roads of Paraparap. The race begins with bunches rolling turns out and back along Forest Rd, where cooperation and rhythm will be vital before the real challenge begins. From there, riders will tackle 2.5 laps of one of our favourite circuits - Forest, Grays, Hendy Main and Larcombes Roads - a loop that always rewards smart racing, strong legs and good positioning. Expect the pace to build with every lap as attacks, fatigue and tactics begin to shape the race. The exposed roads and flowing corners can quickly split bunches apart, while those who conserve energy and work efficiently together may give themselves the best chance of contesting the finish. After the final turn into Larcombes Rd, it will be all about timing, courage and sprint speed as riders launch for the line at the always challenging Larcombes Rd (A) finish. A fitting way to close out the first half of the season before the winter break begins.
