Great, dirt crits is for you.
Our final race of the 25/26 season is a Hill Climb. This year we are leaving Mt Taylor behind and starting a new tradition on Mount Stromlo. The new hill climb circuit will be https://api.coros.com/coros/data/share-track?regionId=1&id=475247176560377857&fbclid=IwY2xjawQSQP9leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBsR1VnOXg2dVlGcjk1S05Tc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHvGWWsgfbNA9nWYYl3msBxQcduS-QRVj1G-PviQAWmj8goJ08hjRkE1cevi1_aem_tWVv2hlhXUg3uIkbs7dYcA.
Park at the top of the mountain. F grade will start at 5.50pm. All other riders must arrive by 6pm and we'll coast down the mountain to the start line, ready for the climb back up the mountain. Sausage sizzle to follow at the top of the mountain while the sun sets, as we bit farewell to a great 25/26 DirtCrits season.
Dirt crits is kids & novice friendly, but also offers enough of a challenge for experienced riders to ping against the rev limiter. We have a handicap format that keeps things competitive. ids races start in one block and are not handicapped. Dirt Crits will be held on most Thursday afternoons during school terms from 16 October to 12 March, although some events may be cancelled due to inclement weather or lack of organisers - our facebook page will be updated by 4pm if the event is cancelled. Results are posted to Facebook after the event.
The CORC Dirt Crits are usually run as four races as follows:
A/B grade = approx. 20 min (5/6 lap) handicap race released in waves . C grade = normally 20 min handicap race (usually 4 laps) D/E grade = will race together with D grade usually doing 2 laps and E grade usually doing 1 lap (or a modified course). Best suited to novices or junior riders who are looking for a challenge or learning to race. F grade = normally on much shorter and technically easier course. Best suited to young juniors.
For the hill climb, we will run it backwards to usual, so A/B will set off first, followed by C grade, then D/E grade. F grade will do a modified course at the top of the mountain.
Anyone can enter any category. However, each participant can only race one category. The organisers reserve the right to request riders to change categories. A link to the courses will be provided on the CORC Facebook page and confirmed the Friday before the race, allowing time for Dirt Critters to practice the course before they enter if needed.
Points awarded to the first 5 finishers per grade. Riders will be called up to the start line before each race.
PLEASE NOTE: The race finish will be video recorded to allow organisers to confirm results. This video will be deleted from devices immediately once results have been recorded and will not be used for any other purposes.
$5 per race – to cover costs of the entry system, Stromlo Forest park usage, number plates, our basic first aid kit and end of season party and prizes. Payment is taken when you enter – if you scratch before the race, the entry fee is refunded.
$50 season pass (NEW THIS YEAR!) – provides automatic entry into all races for the season (aiming for 12 races). No obligation to attend all races but refunds will NOT be provided if you miss a race or a race is cancelled.
Entry is via an EntryBoss link online. For the Dirt Crit series, all participants must be AusCycling members. This includes all juniors. AusCycling membership ensures all riders are covered for personal accident and public liability insurance (including when not at Dirt Crits). AusCycling does have a four week free trial membership: AusCycling | 4 Week Free Trial Membership
