As forecasted last year we have decided to spice up the SOUTH 32 WAMBENGER CUP to include a combination of an XCO event on Saturday atbWellington Dam on the eassy going Potters Gorge trails utilized 3years ago, with an 15/25 & 50km Marathon Event, centered at Minninup Pool. The Marathon Event will utilizing the same fast flowing XC trail we used last year as the centrepoint, venturing out onto the much loved Kyle trail and return for the 15& 25km events and venturing out along the River to the Wagyl Biddi trails for the 50km event.

Points for the Wambenger Cup prizes will be the total of points accumulated from both the XCO EVENT on Saturday and Sunday.

You need to enter both events separately.

Note your points the WAMBENGER CUP will be based on your age group for both events. For the XCO event on Saturday you will get more points for racing a higher grade. For the Marathon Event you will get more points for riding the greatest distance available to your age group. If you don’t ride a race you will be allocated 0 points for that race. In the event of a tie, the Marathon event will determine the higher placing in the South 32 Wambenger Cup competition.

*the speeds are a guide to choosing your appropriate Grade. The average speeds are based on what you would average on a single track loop including both up and down segments.

Note the speeds on this course are on average 2-4 kmph slower than your likely normal average.


Race Information

IMPORTANT: Please enter 000 as your number plate as you will be issued with a new one for 2024, EITHER at Round 1 Wellington Dam Kiosk OR the following Day at the Collie Event registration tent. Please Make sure you get your Number Plate at least 30 min prior to your event. This will then plate be your plate to use for the rest of the season YOU NEED TO PAY $5 WHEN YOU ENTER ONLINE. (Not Required for U9/13 Riders)

We have courses and graded races to suit all ages, abilities and fitness, for 6 year olds through to 70 plus year olds.

All the trails are blue and green with some really fun jump options in Wave 1 and flowing fast descents in both waves that have super fun berms to keep you locked in flowing fast on the descents, no doubt generating big smiles. ALL ROUND!!

New riders are most welcome and we will host ride days leading up to the event the weekends prior.

This will be the first of 2 races forming the SOUTH 32 WAMBENGER CUP and the 1st State XCO Round.

You don’t need to be doing any of the other rounds to take part.

State series points will be allocated for each round, while points for the Wambenger Cup prizes will be the total of points accumulated from both the XCO and XCM event.

The Start/ Finish and Village area Wellington Dam Kiosk Carpark so plenty of food, coffee and drink will be available close at hand plus easy parking.

The course is near the edge of the Wellington Dam, so you can cool down after finishing.

Camping/ Caravaning

is also available next at the Collie SHS with a spring feed swim hole on the lower Collie Senior High School Oval

available from Friday 5pm through to Monday 1pm . Camping/Caravan spots for Potters Gorge and Honeymoon Pool are already booked out.

The trails

There will be an opportunity to practice on these trails anytime before the event including the morning of the event with Official Practice and Medic onsite from 7am to 8.30am.

Pick up of Number Plates will be in available from 7am onwards at the Registration Tent in the Kiosk Carpark Race Village area.

Come for the race, stay for the fun...bring the whole family and come on down to test yourself against the state's best, challenge yourself, your mates and make some new ones with a super fun adventurous group of friendly peoples that involved with running and taking part in these events.

Driving Directions:

Easiest driving directions are to approach the event via Wellington Dam Rd turning off the Coalfields Hwy. Drive to the end of Wellington Dam Rd with event parking at the Kiosk Carpark.

Note if coming from the South, the Falcon Rd bridge beneath the dam wall is not in use ... you’ll need to come either via the Coalfields Hwy or via Lennard Dr off Falcon Rd then Right onto Honeymoon Pool Rd and Right again onto Wellington Dam Rd.
