Come and explore some of Canberra’s gravel roads.
Start time: 10:00 am roll away for all riders.
Format: Participation Event (No event timing or results, it’s about having fun, exploring and getting to the finish!) There will however, be a glorious feed station with all the nummiest treats you can imagine. Oh and a coffee machine...
Bikes: The course is suitable for Cyclocross, Gravel and Mountain Bikes, although if you're feeling particularly adventurous you can bring your Road Bike too. Everyone's welcome!
The course: The course takes in some personal favourites of the fire roads intertwined throughout the Uriarra Forest, resulting in a 33km loop that should have enough to challenge anyone.
The first 11km are pretty undulating as we climb away from Brindabella road. Prep yourself for some loose, steep and rocky climbs, but also for the breath-taking views as you get towards the highest point in the course.
Once you get to the top you’ll start your fast descent towards Blue Range hut. We’ll have a mid ride refuel and toilet near the hut. There are some nice smooth roads around here allowing you to recover and get some juice back in the legs for the second half.
You’ll cross Brindabella road but don’t get too used to the smooth tarmac. Back onto the gravel and navigating Warks Rd. The second half of the course is a bit flatter but no less challenging technically!
The run into the finish is along Boggy Rd (hopefully it doesn’t live up to its name).
