CCC Junior Training

Crit Pre-season Refresher & Come and Try


Calling All Juniors at Canberra CC, Vikings CC and Canberra Off Road Cyclists.

Juniors

CCC will be conducting a pre-Criterium Season junior training session on Wed 2nd October. This is a great opportunity for junior racers to refresh their skills and for newcomers to have a go and see how much they could enjoy racing at the CCC Summers Crits.

The session will be split with the first half covering all ages, and all levels of experience and will focus on handling skills. The second half will be for U11 and above where we will up the pace and focus on race skills.

The session is run by Canberra Cycling Club volunteers and accredited coaches.

New riders

We welcome all new riders of all ages to the first half of the session. The second session U11-U15 group require previous bunch riding or racing experience, but others may be included after discussion with the coach.


Equipment

  • Drop-bar road bike (no Time Trial aero bars or flat bar bikes)
  • Australian standards approved helmet
  • A warning device such as a bell
  • Appropriate clothing, water bottle, puncture repair kit etc

We encourage all riders to wear their CCC, VCC, or CORC club kit.


About the Bunch

The session:

  • is run by volunteers from Canberra Cycling Club
  • is open to new and existing juniors from all clubs
  • is a social, supportive, and inclusive
  • is 'no-drop', and stays together
  • is focused on supporting new junior riders into the club
  • is focussed on building junior foundation skills, bunch riding skills and experience

To manage our record-keeping and participation reporting we require all participants (juniors and riding parents/carers) to register via EntryBoss.

In line with AusCycling requirements, each session is limited to 15 juniors.

If you have registered but are unable to attend please scratch yourself (cancel your registration) from the ride by hitting the 'Scratch' button.


Licences

An AusCycling Lifestyle (or better) licence is required to participate.

If you don't hold a licence but would like to attend you can take out a free trial licence on the AusCycling website, or better yet, join the Canberra Cycling Club.
