Hosking Junior Bunch

Calling All Juniors at Canberra CC, Vikings CC and Canberra Off Road Cyclists.

Chloe Hosking

CCC has partnered with club member and cycling legend Chloe Hosking to organise a regular Juniors’ ride.

Chloe will host the Juniors on an appropriately paced ride starting at 630 am from Margot Espresso Bar.

Key Info

630am start from Margot Espresso Bar

Special Guest

Local elite cyclist Lauren Bates will lead this week's Hosking bunch as Chloe is unavailable. Thanks Lauren!

Lauren

Lauren has been selected to ride the 2023 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships that are being held in Colombia in August.

For those in a position to help, we'd like to encourage this week's participants to donate to Lauren's fundraising campaign.

The Route

We'll tackle this route for the next Hosking Junior Bunch ride. The ride is open to all riders from 10-16 years of age (and their parents).

Starting 630am in front of Margot, a trendy French-inspired cafe in Queen Elizabeth Terrace in front of the International Flag Display (cafe opens at 6:30am).

This 20km route allows for a few 'shorts-cuts' for younger riders such as ducking up Hopetoun Ct or shooting down Melbourne Ave. while the mountain goats amongst us continue up Mugga Way.

The route still offers older riders the opportunity to test their legs with a race from the corner of Mugga Way and Flinders Way to the end of the road, approximately 2km.

Then we will ride as a bunch back to Margot for hot chocolates, coffees, and croissants.

New riders

We welcome new riders to the bunch.

If you are the parent of a junior who is interested in giving cycling a go then this group is for you.

Each week Chloe will conduct a quick roll call and briefing for new riders before the ride commences.

Registration is free - just click the 'enter' button on this listing.

The bunch size is limited to 20 juniors. If you have registered but are unable to attend please scratch yourself (cancel your registration) from the ride by hitting the 'Scratch' button.

Parents & Carers

Parents and carers of younger juniors are welcome to ride in a second bunch behind the juniors and provide support to the juniors as required. We ask that parents don't mix into the main junior bunch.

We ask that these riders also register here on EntryBoss.

It's Social

Those who are dropping their juniors but not riding are encouraged to remain at the cafe for a coffee and chat while the bunch is underway.

Open Road Conditions

This ride takes place on open roads. As with all on-road cycling, there is a risk associated with this activity.

If you are entering a new junior rider we recommend that you discuss their capability to participate in the event with us before you register. Please use the contact details below.
