THE BASICS

Eligibility - Must have a valid AusCycling race licence and a Hamilton Wheelers grading. Riders from all clubs invited.

Ted Alexander Memorial - This race is conducted in honour of our late member, Ted Alexander. Many thanks to Ted's wife Andrea, for generously supplying extra prizemoney.

Entries - Entries close 8pm on THURDAY evening.

Gradings - Enter in your current HWCC grade (as early as possible to help the handicappers). Provide an explanation if you wish to enter a different grade and check the start list on Friday evening. HWCC Handicappers' decisions are final.

Registration - From 7.30am - closes 10 minutes before race starts.

Race Start - First riders away at 8.15am.

Course - Due to roadworks on Powell Rd, an alternate course is being used. Each lap is 25km https://goo.gl/maps/NCRN8E3rCnduMxKG9

Please note - This is not a closed road event, so riders must not cross centre lines (including broken centre lines).

Prizes - Cash prizes awarded proportional to entry numbers.

EVENT DETAILS

Grading - Riders must have a Hamilton Wheelers grading - details - http://www.hamiltonwheelers.com/general-info/club-grading-list.

Juniors - U15 are permitted to ride in a 1 lap race only after first being endorsed to ride in Hamilton Road Events by a Hamilton Junior Coach.

Race Distances - Division 1 - 50km (2 laps) - For riders with a Hamilton club grade of A, B, C or D. Division 2 - 25km (1 lap) - For riders graded E or F plus all approved juniors.

Start/Finish - Start in the carpark of Elimbah State School. Finish line is on Twin View Road. Please note: the finish line is approx 100 metres past the 1 lap turn-around point.

Registration - From 7.30am and closes at 8.05am at Twin View Park (opposite the finish line). Riders who miss the compulsory commissaire's briefing will not be allowed to start. Riders should display their number patches on their left side.

Handicap Race - This is a handicap race - not graded races. Club handicappers will allocate start times for each rider. Riders will start in small groups at various intervals with the aim of all riders having a reasonable chance to win.

Enter in your regular grade to help with initial groupings and then please provide as much info as possible to assist with handicapping. Please add any remarks in the info box when entering that may assist the handicappers (such as names of other club members who you believe are at about the same level as yourself).

Enter as soon as possible to give our handicappers a better chance of determining fair start times...you don't want to make the handicappers angry with you if you enter late! If you need to scratch yourself after entering, please be fair to other riders and do it as early as possible.

Race Rules - The drafting of riders from different start times is allowed at all stages of the race (within your division). Racing is conducted under the auspices of AusCycling rules and regulations. Normal road rules apply, you must ride no more than two abreast unless passing. Do not cross centre lines (including broken centre lines) and obey all road rules. Marshalls cannot stop traffic.

EntryBoss Entry - Please make sure your current AusCycling licence number is registered with EntryBoss before entering. Do not use a previous licence number.

Prizes - Cash Prizes awarded for the first 3 places in each division, fastest time + first unplaced female.

Race Scratchings - If riders find they are unable to race after entering HWCC races, they may 'scratch' themselves up to 7pm the night before handicap races - the entry fee will be refunded. Click on the 'Scratch' button on the EntryBoss event page. Please note that there is a very small cost to the club due to unrecoverable merchant fees, whenever riders' scratch themselves.

Wet-weather Policy - A decision to cancel due to poor weather will only made by the Chief Commissaire with announcements made via the club's social pages. Generally, we race in all weather, except heavy rain or if there are sheets of water on the road surface. Any decision on cancellation will be made as early as possible.

All race entry fees will be refunded if races are cancelled.
