Calling All Junior Girls at Canberra CC and Vikings CC
Local elite riders and ex-professionals have put their hands up again to host another Girls Who Ride bunch on 3rd April 2022. All junior girls riding with Canberra Cycling Club, Vikings Cycling Club and Canberra Off Road Cyclists are invited to sign up for the GWR bunch.
By registering for this event you agree to act in accordance with our COVID Safety Plan.
Come and join the likes of Gracie Elvin, Em Viotto, Jen Darmody, Kimberley Wells and Eliza Smyth for a 25km bunch ride, followed by essential post ride chat at a café in Kingston.
This is a great opportunity for junior girls to talk with the ride hosts about all things women’s cycling whether it be, road, track or MTB. Our hosts have seen plenty of action this summer with local, national and international level road and MTB competition, whilst juggling their own professional lives as coaches, commentators, doctors, business owners, physiotherapists, lecturers and mentors.
As always, there is no shortage of topics the junior girls can chat to the hosts about.
The ‘Girls Who Ride’ bunch ride is for competent U13-U17 girls, with the focus on bunch skills, fitness and most importantly, a safe social environment for mentoring, group conversation and good times, all under the leadership of our local experts and racers.
“We want to keep our young cyclists engaged in the sport for the long term and attract many more along the way. Canberra has a wealth of riches when it comes to experienced and successful cycling women. We hope that by running and growing this juniors’ bunch we can use these experienced women to help build development pathways for our junior girls, so that they stay in the sport for the long term, both to their and the sport’s benefit.”
To manage our COVID record-keeping and participation reporting we require all participants to register via EntryBoss.
An AusCycling Lifestyle (or better) licence is required to participate. Riders who hold other third party bicycle riding specific insurance (eg ACT Vets or Pedal Power) are welcome to attend.
If you don't hold a licence but would like to attend you can take out a free trial licence on the AusCycling website, or better yet, join the Canberra Cycling Club.

Remember: 'I forgot to register' or late registration are excellent reasons to bring extra coffee money. If this applies to you make sure you come up with a good excuse for why you shouldn't shout the bunch ;)
