Sunday 26th September | Redlands Track Park (Scribbly Gums)
RATS Cycling Club presents Chicks in the Sticks – a three-hour cross country mountain bike event.
Chicks in the Sticks is a women’s only race suitable for both beginner and experienced riders - junior and senior. With a range of categories to choose from, to suit your riding experience and ability, there is something for everyone.
T-Shirts:
The Chicks in the Sticks 2021 T-shirts have now been ordered for early bird entries. We will have a small number of shirts available to purchase on the day for $20. Sizing for the T-shirts can be found here - http://www.ratscc.com.au/chicks-in-the-sticks/registration/
To encourage new riders to have a try at racing, Chicks in the Sticks offers race categories based on your experience level. Categories available include Solo, Team and Junior Mini Enduro events. There is also a separate Little Chicks in the Sticks event for juniors, which uses a shorter course. Non-members of the RATS Cycling Club are welcome. There will be no day licence required for entry in 2021.
Chicken Run: Regular on the racing scene, with a solid level of fitness and skill (A grade).
Free Range: Confident riders who have done a few races, with an intermediate level of fitness and skill (B grade).
Have a Crack: Newly-hatched MTB riders, looking for a no-pressure and supportive race experience. You want to challenge yourself to enter, participate and do your best (C grade).
Queens of the Coop: A race experience for riders aged 50 years and over.
Battery Hens: A category for all e-bike riders.
Clipped Wings: The race for the single-speeders.
(Enter separately and please ensure both parties use exactly the same team name)
Hard-Boiled Double Yolkers: Teams of two, with racing experience and good fitness.
Soft-Boiled Double Yolkers: Teams of two. Too shy to do it alone or concerned about your fitness? Bring a friend and do a tag-team around the course. (Age 15+)
Junior Double Yolkers: Teams of two between the ages of 11 and 14 years. Race the FULL track with the ladies for the shorter time of two hours. Ride tag team laps as for the Double Yolkers.
Chick-A-Dees: 30-minute race on a shorter course for riders between the ages of 12 and 16 years.
Chicken Nuggets: 20-minute race on the shorter Little Chicks course, for riders between the ages of 5 and 11 years.
The Little Chicks loop has been designed for the Chicken Nuggets category and WILL be too easy for experienced teenage riders. Please don't enter Chick-a-Dees if you can ride for an hour - leave it for the new riders. Please consider having those riders join a friend and enter the Junior Double Yolkers, or Soft-Boiled Double Yolkers, depending on age.
Post on the CITS Facebook page - and RATS Cycling Club - if you need to find a new friend to ride with in a team. Once you've made contact and decided to join together, choose a team name and enter separately using that name.
