Get ready to send it at one of Queensland’s premier gravity venues. The 2026 AusCycling MTB Downhill State Championships – QLD will be held at Smithfield Mountain Bike Park, Cairns from 14–16 August 2026, bringing together the state’s fastest downhill riders for a weekend of high-speed racing, technical terrain, and state title glory.
Riders will take on Smithfield’s iconic world-class downhill track, featuring steep gradients, technical sections, natural features, fast linking lines, and demanding race conditions that reward commitment, precision, and bike handling. This event is suitable for experienced downhill racers and developing riders ready to test themselves on one of Australia’s most recognised gravity venues.
Limited entries may apply. Entries close at the published deadline unless sold out earlier. Categories may be combined if required. Riders must complete registration and sign-in before racing. DH technical regulations apply - all entrants must be familiar with the terms and conditions of racing. Timing, shuttles, and course operations will be confirmed in the final event schedule. Officials reserve the right to alter the timetable for safety, weather, or operational requirements.
Entrants must hold a current valid AusCycling Race Off Road or Race All Discipline membership. Please ensure your EntryBoss profile is up to date before entering, including membership number, membership type, and category details, to avoid delays at registration. All riders must comply with current AusCycling downhill equipment requirements, including a full-face helmet and appropriate protective gear. Additional protection is strongly recommended for all categories, and mandatory items apply for junior riders in the U13, U15, and U17 divisions.
The event will follow a classic downhill championship format across three days:
• Track walk and course familiarisation.
• Registration and rider briefing.
• Official practice.
• Seeding runs.
• Final race runs.
• Presentations.

Riders can expect steep descents, technical braking zones, natural obstacles, fast straights, and high-consequence race lines that reward clean execution and race-day confidence. It is a course that suits powerful, technical downhill riding and will deliver a true state-level test for all categories.
