A note on the schedule from Carlijn Kerdijk, AusCycling Head of Events – Road & Esports.
Thank you to all those who provided feedback after the 2025 Juniors & Masters Road National Championships through the event survey and via email. We take your feedback seriously and, as a result, have been liaising with a select group of riders during the planning of the 2026 competition schedule. The key feedback points that we have attempted to integrate into this year’s schedule are outlined below. AusCycling acknowledges that these changes will not please all riders, but our intention has been to listen to the feedback provided.
Changes for 2026 implemented through feedback from the event survey and in consultation with a select group of riders:
• Harder and longer races across all Masters categories. For 2026, the distance for the MMAS and younger WMAS categories has been increased. The course this year will also be harder due to some punchy hills.
• A desire to have as many MMAS and WMAS categories start at separate times for the road race and criterium. Most of the MMAS and WMAS categories in 2026 will have separate start times. In consultation with and based on feedback from the select group of riders, some age categories will still start together. A longer gap will also be implemented between the starts of the Masters categories in the road race and criterium. Please note that if entry numbers in age groups are low, the PCP and race director will consider starting age groups together for the road race or criterium.
• The Junior categories are now not racing on the Sunday, meaning that travel back home for these categories will be easier for families to manage on the Sunday.
