Information

Join us at the Narrabundah Open Track Carnival

Vikings Cycling Club (VCC) and the Canberra Cycling Club (CCC) are hosting the 2025/26 Narrabundah Open Track Carnival.

The event will be part of the NSW/ACT Country Track Series which will be bringing the best regional U19, Elite and Master trackies to compete to become the Series Champion.

Cyclists will compete for prizes and glory and have the chance to race in Canberra at the renowned “Bundahdome”.

  • Dates: 08 February 2026
  • AusCycling Race All Discipline Licence & Track bikes only

THE PROGRAM

The carnival will combine the Junior and Senior Carnivals

8.00am - Gates open and registration

8.30am - Track open for warm up, Juniors upto U13 till 8.50am, then U17 and up till 9.20am, then Commissaire briefing.

9.30am - Racing start

The Carnival will include:

  • Graded Scratch races (Junior age categories | Seniors A/B/C/D)

  • 1000 meter handicaps - qualifier for Wheelrace (Junior age categories | Seniors A/B/C/D)

  • Derek Aisbitt Memorial Wheelrace - sponsored by Stromlo Energy (Seniors, U19 and up)

  • Sian Mulholland Women's Wheelrace (depending at least 10 women starters)

  • Merv McDonald Memorial Wheelrace (Juniors, U15 - U17 girls & boys combined)

  • Jim Veal Junior Wheelrace (Juniors, U9-13 girls & boys combined)

  • Motorpaced Graded Scratch races (Junior age categories | Seniors A/B/C/D)

The Race Director and Commissaires reserve the right to stop riders from participating if they are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others

JUNIOR GEAR RESTRICTIONS

Gear restrictions apply to all junior cyclists in events conducted under AusCycling regulations on the road and track.

The restriction is the distance one revolution of the crank arm will propel the bicycle, this is known as the ‘roll out’.

For all junior categories, male and female, the following maximum rollout distances shall apply:

  • Junior U15 - U17: 7.0 metres
  • Junior U13: 5.5 metres
  • Junior U11 and below: 5.5 metres

LICENSING

Riders must have a current AusCycling RACE License. License Information is available here: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership
