Junior Carnival postponed to Saturday 19 November 2022

Join us as we celebrate 50-years of track cycling in Canberra.

This ACT track carnival will be unlike any other cycling event in Canberra, combining the best of racing from our yesteryears, and cycling today.

This event will bring together some of the best cyclists from across the country, with something for everyone, from our Juniors to Masters.

Cyclists will compete for over $1,000 in cash prizes and have the chance to mingle with cycling greats as we commemorate this extraordinary milestone for cycling in Canberra at the renowned “Bundahdome”.

PROGRAM

JUNIOR Carnival - Saturday 19 November

Gates open: 10am Warm up: 11am Racing: 12noon

• Scratch races for all Junior age groups- qualifier for Wheelrace
• Graded 2/3 lap handicaps for all Junior age groups
• Merv McDonald Memorial Handicap Wheelrace - Finals
• Points Races U11/13 & U15/17
• Italian Pursuit
• Presentations Finishing ~ 3pm

Please be advised that the Narrabundah Velodrome is a steep track and participants should have experience riding similar tracks

If you are unfamiliar with this Velodrome, the track will be open for training (Saturdays) and racing (Mondays) in the weeks leading up to the event. Refer to https://entryboss.cc/calendar/vikings for more details.

The Race Director and Commissaires reserve the right to stop riders from participating if they are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others

JUNIOR GEAR RESTRICTIONS

Gear restrictions apply to all junior cyclists in events conducted under AusCycling regulations on the road and track.

The restriction is the distance one revolution of the crank arm will propel the bicycle, this is known as the ‘roll out’.

For all junior categories, male and female, the following maximum rollout distances shall apply:

• Junior U17 7.0 metres
• Junior U15 6.0 metres
• Junior U13 5.5 metres
• Junior U11 and below 5.5 metres
