⏱️ Timing and Race Numbers

PACC will be providing live timing for this event. If you have been issued with a PACC Timing Tag previously, please bring it to the event. For riders new to our races, a tag will be available for collection at the Registration Desk, along with your race number. If you have lost or damaged yours, please purchase one when you register.

Please... if you do have a bib and transponder, it would be really helpful for you to add it to the comments field in the registration so that we can make sure the system is up-to-date before race day. Bib Number, and if your transponder has it, the transponder number. Thank you.

Race Plates This year we will be introducing race plates.
This is to make the timing teams role far easier on the day. Being able to see a rider number and their category prior to crossing the line will be a massive advantage to ensure timing and lap counts are kept accurate.
We're hoping that these will replace bib numbers and timing tags; however this may be in later rounds.

Live results will be available during the event - start from here.

Rider numbers will be the YELLOW AND BLACK cloth numbers first issued a few seasons ago. These are what you will use at all future Port Adelaide CC events unless specified. If you don’t have a set, one will be assigned to you and provided at sign on. Replacement numbers for those who have lost them will have another set issued at a cost.

If you are not sure if you've been issued a number previously, or are not sure which number you have, please reach out to us by email at cx@pacc.org.au

Sign On and Staging

Riders are requested to sign on as soon as possible at each round, and then assist with course setup if still in progress.

Please visit the regiostration desk and have your name checked off before going on course for practice. Riders must have their race number, timing tag and/or race plate on before entering the course.

Riders must have signed on at the registration desk more than 30 minutes before race start so we know you're at the venue.

Riders must be ready to start and congregating at the muster point 15 minutes before the allocated race start time for the Commissaire’s instructions.

Riders will be seeded based on current Series Points, followed by Time of Entry. Riders will be called up one by one to the starting grid at ~5 minutes before the scheduled start. If you miss your call-up, you will start from the back of the field.

Points System - Revised for 2026

TL;DR Points will be awarded based on overall finishing position within each graded gender field, using a single scale across A, B, and C grades combined. While riders race in grades at each round for close competition, all results go toward a rider's UCI age-category series standings based on overall performance. Nominal Grade Podiums at each round. Prizes awarded by UCI age categories based on overall points at the end of the Series. This rewards strong performances at any level and encourages riders to progress, while recognising consistency across the full field and season.

A deeper dive...
Points are awarded based on overall finishing position across all grades (A, B, C combined) using a single descending points table.
Men and Women will be scored separately. Points continue across grades (e.g. last in A → first in B gets the next available points). Maximum points for 1st place in A Grade, while last place in C Grade will inherit the least number of points.
Series standings are calculated by UCI age category, not race grade.
A, B, C grades will still exist at each Crossfire Cup round and there will be nominal podiums for these grades at each round.
However, prizes will be awarded at the end of Round 4 (end of Series) based on UCI age category.
Scoring:
All Finishers receive points based on their overall position across all grades.
For those not finishing a race the following applies...
DNF = points for final position based on timer/commissaire
DNS = 0 points
DQ = 0 points + relegation
Grading:
Riders are promoted/relegated between A, B, C grades each round based on results from the previous Crossfire Cup round; at the discretion of the handicapper.
Initial grading is based on past results and/or known current performance in other disciplines.
Series:
All rounds, including State Championships, count toward the series.
Final results and prizes are awarded by UCI age category after the completion of Crossfire Cup Round 4.
Why the change?:
The revised points system aims to make the series fairer and more meaningful by recognising overall performance within each gender (men and women race separately), rather than just results within a grade. Grades (A, B, C) are still used to keep racing close and enjoyable, but all riders within each field are ranked together for points, which count toward UCI age-based series standings. This rewards strong rides at any level, encourages riders to move up grades, and ensures the series reflects how consistently and competitively you perform across the whole season, not just within your grade.
Questions:
If there are specific queries relating to the new system, please reach out to cx@pacc.org.au and we’ll answer them accordingly.

Race Day Reminders

  • No License, No Race - Riders need a current license. Licenses may be checked at registration, so please bring your license or proof of renewal on the day.
  • No Race Plate, Race Number, or Timing Tag ---> No Race.
  • Pits - there will be dedicated pit areas on each course for mechanical assistance. You must enter the pits from the course, and in the direction of the course (which may mean you need to run with your bike to the pit area). Cutting the course or receiving assistance outside the pit areas will result in a DQ.
  • Announcements - Keep your eye on your emails for any important announcements ahead of race day.
  • Respect the venue - We're racing in a natural area. Please warm up in areas to minimise damage to the vegetation.
  • Illness - Consider your actions and how they impact upon others. Stay home if you're sick. Give yourself a chance to recover.
