Learn the fundamental skills of mountain-biking with expert instructor Cazz Clarke in this friendly, all-women, beginner skills session.
Open to women, women-identifying individuals, non-binary and gender non-conforming people who are 13 years and older, the session is an ideal way to learn and develop skills and build confidence for mountain biking.
GMBC will be running two sessions at 08:30 and 11:00 - please indicate which session you wish to attend in the comments section when entering. Places are strictly limited, so get your registration in early to guarantee your space.
This event is part of GMBC's MTB Femmes Program which is supported by the Victorian Government's Change Our Game initiative. MTB Femmes aims to help more women and girls enjoy the social, health, and well-being benefits of mountain biking by removing some of the barriers which hinder women participating in off road cycling.

This event is free, but registration through EntryBoss is essential and a valid AusCycling membership is also required (see below)
Who is this event for?
This event is for any women, women-identifying individuals, non-binary and gender non-conforming people who are 13 years and older that are interested in learning and developing their mountain bike skills.
What type of bike do I need?
A safe and functioning flat bar mountain bike or mountain e-bike is required for this event, please ensure your brakes are working and you have air in your tyres. We will be running a bike safety check at the start of the session and will be able to assist with any minor issues identified such as tyre pressures. No road or gravel bikes with drop bars sorry.
What if I don't have a suitable bike?
Drop us an email at geelong.mtb.club@gmail.com with your height in cm and we'll find you a bike to borrow for the session. We will need at least a week's notice though please!
What do I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for riding a bike in, such as T-shirt, shorts, active wear, leggings etc. Enclosed footwear with flat soles such as runner/sneakers or cycling specific shoes. You will also need a helmet that conforms with Australian Standards (or equivalent) - look for an Australian Standards sticker inside the helmet.
What skill level is required?
It is expected participants will be able to ride a bike but no specific bike skills are required, the skills sessions will be tailored to the group.
What should I bring?
Please bring a safe and working mountain bike, helmet with Australian Standards sticker inside, enclosed footwear such as runners/sneakers, water bottle, sunscreen and insect repellent. We also recommend sunglasses and gloves if you have them.
Do I need to be a Geelong Mountain Bike Club Member?
No you do not need to be a GMBC member to attend this event. However, you do need to have an AusCycling membership to participate so that you are covered by insurance.
Auscycling membership:
All riders need a valid Auscycling membership to participate. Auscycling offer a free 4-week trial membership for anyone who has not had a membership before. Please see https://auscycling.org.au/become-a-member or reach out to GMBC if you need assistance geelong.mtb.club@gmail.com
