UQCC Primary & Add-On Members Only
Cancelled due to track partial flooding
Racing has been cancelled due to ongoing wet weather and water covering part of the track. HOWEVER - the AGM will still be held at the track and there will be a social ride afterwards.
Please note our Annual General Meeting will be held between the races! B&D grade will need to stay after their races are complete and A&C grade will need to come a little early. This is important for our club and having your say in its future! We will be electing a new board for the next 12 months.
This points race will feature sprints every 5 laps where you can earn points, with the most points accumulated winning. Points are awarded as follows:
Place | Intermediate Sprints | Final Sprint |
---|---|---|
1st | 3 | 6 |
2nd | 2 | 4 |
3rd | 1 | 3 |
4th | - | 2 |
5th | - | 1 |
Each grade will complete a set number of laps: A grade - 30 laps with 6 sprints B grade - 25 laps with 5 sprints C grade - 20 laps with 4 sprints D grade - 20 laps with 4 sprints
So bring your sprint (or break away) legs and your calculators and have a go at a points race.
Any questions, please contact the club at info@uqcycle.com
UQCC is a bicycle racing club based in Brisbane, Australia. A leading club with a rich racing heritage, we love to ride, race, and explore the wonderful corner of the world we live in.
UQCC is hosting a members-only club crit at the Albert Bishop Park & Criterium Circuit, Nundah (Nundahdome).
By registering for the event and presenting for the race, you acknowledge that this race is run under AusCycling's rules. You must be an active AusCycling (UQCC) member to participate in UQCC criteriums.
UQCC is pretty flexible with grading riders. Please be honest and open if you are requesting a grade with us, or to change grades. If you're new to racing crits, you may wish to start in a lower grade - even if you are fit enough for a higher one. This gives you a chance to learn the crit routine and safely handle yourself in a bunch. You can always go up in grades later.
To request a grading change, use the reason field in the crit entry form. Grading changes will usually be granted.
UQCC have introduced a small entry fee for criteriums as of 2025.
You will not be able to show up and race if you have not registered prior to the event.
Grade | Time | Duration |
---|---|---|
B Grade | 6.00am | 25 laps with 5 sprints |
D Grade | 6.05am | 20 laps with 4 sprints |
A Grade | 7.00am | 30 laps with 6 sprints |
C Grade | 7.05am | 20 laps with 4 sprints |
Please make sure your license is up to date!
Riders must sign on for the start list as you arrive at the staging area, with a roll taken to confirm any riders not yet ticked off.
Volunteers are needed to carry out the sign-on. Please consider giving some help here. All volunteers will receive free entry to their next crit.
IMPORTANT: From 2025, UQCC will issue you with a race number at the registration sign-on. The UQCC Committee made a decision that from 2025 riders will no longer 'keep' their own number. You will need to ensure to return the race number at the end of the Criterium to ensure the club can maintain the race numbers for future use. Safety Pins are supplied by the Club.
We will endeavour to start races on time, so be warmed up and ready to go when you do arrive at the track.
Race numbers should be pinned to your right hand side, not on your back! This makes it possible for commissaires to identify you from trackside.
Rollout - All Juniors U19s and lower, no matter what grade they are racing in, must get their gearing rollout checked on the concrete path near the viewing area pergola and registration sign-on area BEFORE picking up their race number
UQCC Club Criteriums provide a chance for riders new to the sport to learn the crit routine and safely race in a bunch. Riders are to follow the instructions of the race commissaires. Criterium races in a clockwise direction, bunches should pass a lower grade bunch on the lefthand side. Within the bunch, riders should ideally maintain a consistent race line and avoid rapid swerves or erratic riding tactics during the race.
Wet-weather Policy - A decision to cancel due to poor weather will only made out at the course by the Chief Commissaire with announcements made via website and facebook (unless it's absolutely certain weather would make it impossible to race)
Those wishing to claim a place should present to the commissaires for confirmation. Please remember to return your race number to the sign-on registration desk.
If you have any questions, please send an email to info@uqcycle.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
