The Basics

Eligibility - Members of all clubs invited to race. 'Lifestyle' and 'Non-Riding' licences not accepted. Riders must have a Hamilton Wheelers grading - details - http://www.hamiltonwheelers.com/general-info/club-grading-list

Entries - Entries close on Friday at 11am (to allow club officials time to set the complex task of allocating handicap start times for Saturday).

Race Distances -
A, B and C Grades - Riders graded A, B and C will race in Division 1 - 2 laps of the circuit (total of 56km)
M&N and Juniors U15+ - Riders graded M&N and Juniors U15+ will race in Division 2 - 1 lap of the circuit (28km)
D Grade - D Grade riders may choose to race in either Division 1 (56km) or Division 2 (28km). If riding fast for 56km is a 'stretch', please enter Division 2, which greatly assists the handicappers sorting out start times.

U15 Juniors must be endorsed by their Club Coach or Handicapper before they are eligible to race our road events

Course - Each lap is 28km of rolling hills, starting at Elimbah, travelling along Twin View Rd, turning left at Powell Rd, onto King Rd, then Boden Rd with the turn-around on Alcock Rd. These roads are not closed to general traffic. All Queensland road rules apply. Do not cut corners or cross white lines (you will be disqualified if you cross the centre white line in a sprint at the finish). Map - https://www.strava.com/segments/27954857

The turnaround for grades doing 2 laps (Division 1) is 100 metres before the finish line on Twin View Road at Elimbah. Turnarounds are marked with a witch's hat and are attended by a flag marshal.

Registration and Start - Sign-on from 7.30am and closes at 8.05am. First riders are away at 8.15am (sharp). Riders must be ready to start at their allotted time which will be called out by the commissaires at the start line. If you miss your start time...you'll be racing with a faster group!Riders should display their number patches on their left side.

CHANGE IN REGISTRATION AREA - To avoid disturbing residents the location for signon, riders briefing and the race start point will be in the school parking area on school road rather than in Twin View Road Park. Please be considerate of residents during the event.

Handicap Race - This is a handicap race - not graded races. Club handicappers will allocate start times for each rider, with the aim of giving every rider a reasonable chance of winning. Riders will start in small groups at various intervals.

Enter in your regular grade and please provide as much information as possible in the comments section to assist with handicapping. Results and times from recent or previous events (especially this one), naming riders with similar ability, etc, will all help. Not providing enough sufficient info may mean you'll be given a tougher handicap start time. D Grade riders are asked to indicate which Division they wish to race in.

Enter Early - Entering early gives our handicappers a better chance of determining fair start times...you don't want to make the handicappers angry with you if you enter late! If you need to scratch yourself after entering, please be fair to other riders and do it as early as possible, so the handicappers can ensure other riders start in a reasonable sized group.

Race Rules - The drafting of riders from different start times is allowed at all stages of the race.

Prizes - Cash prizes for podium places + first unplaced woman + fastest time.

If you have never raced with us...

Before you enter, you must -

HWCC General Race Info

EntryBoss Entry - Please make sure your current AusCycling licence number is registered with EntryBoss before entering. Do not use a previous licence number. Entries are checked against AusCycling current/financial licence lists. Riders should have their digital licence ready or printed email ready to show if requested. To obtain your digital licence - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lOQwgx7wMiXIUzZ8ud5GuDWLpMjhfh1P/view

Gradings - Riders should enter according to their current HWCC grading. Should a rider wish to enter an alternate grade, an explanation should be provided in the comments section of the entry form with appropriate info such as results elsewhere. All entries are provisional until confirmed by the club handicappers.

Grading Confirmation - VERY IMPORTANT - HWCC club handicappers review all provisional entries before they are confirmed. If a rider applies to race in a grade other than their current HWCC grading, they must check the EntryBoss startlist after 7pm on the evening before race day to confirm which grade they will be starting in. Please make yourself familiar with the HWCC EntryBoss entering policy - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IaUU0m95wCTQ_O_bwgmV8YeQHzuNdd4m/view

Women's Races/Prizes - In events where there is no separate women's races, the first unplaced female in each grade is presented with a prize, provided there are 2 to 7 female entries. If 8 or more females enter any grade, there will be a 'race within a race'. Read HWCC Women's racing/prizes policy for an explanation - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZFchCEfWpi3zGA2wzR_SVK6vrW_ZnSst/view

M&N and Vets Grades - For events that the club doesn't cater for HWCC 'Masters and Novices' and 'Vets' graded riders grades (i.e Twilight Series, Interclubs), these riders may nominate to race in D grade via the EntryBoss entry (subject to club handicapper approval).

Rider Inquiries - If club officials require pre-race information on a rider's licence or grading, every effort will be made to contact them via their EntryBoss registered email address.

Registration/Race Patches - Start registration begins approx 30 minutes before the first race and and closes 10 minutes before each race start time. Riders must wear their race number patches on their right side for criteriums at Nundah and Lakeside. Patches must be worn on the left side for road races, ITTs and reverse direction criteriums. There is a compulsory Commissaire's briefing before each race. Riders who miss this briefing will not be allowed to start.

Prizes - Cash prizes for seniors races are proportional to entry numbers and generally are awarded to the first 3 places. Prizes for juniors will be awarded appropriately.

Podium Presentations - First 4 riders in each grade will be presented at a podium presentation. There will be separate women's podium presentations if there are 3 or more women entered in a grade. Riders/spectators are encouraged to take photos.

Results - HWCC publishes all race results on their website (usually within a day or two) - http://www.hamiltonwheelers.com/

Race Scratchings - If riders find they are unable to race after entering HWCC races, they may 'scratch' themselves up to 5am on normal race days, 3pm for Twilight races and up to 7pm the night before handicap races - the entry fee will be refunded. Click on the 'Scratch' button on the EntryBoss event page. Please note that there is a small cost to the club due to unrecoverable merchant fees, whenever riders' scratch themselves.

Wet-weather Policy - A decision to cancel due to poor weather will be made by the Chief Commissaire with announcements via the club's social pages. Generally, we race in all weather, except heavy rain or if there are sheets of water on the road surface. Any decision on cancellation will be made as early as possible.

All race entry fees will be refunded if races are cancelled.

Race Rules - Racing is conducted under the auspices of AusCycling rules and regulations. Helmets must comply with Australian (ADR) and UCI regulations for on-road races and UCI regulations for off-road races.
