About

Location: Matcham Valley Pony Club, Holgate. Use this map link to get directions > LOCATION MAP

Start time: 8am
Getting there: Wattle Tree Rd, Holgate

Parking - PLEASE NOTE: Only officials and volunteers will be parked inside the venue. All riders MUST park at Paul Oval (off Milina Road and on the above map link, the service road next to the cricket oval, you can see at the end it connects through to the Pony Club area, and that gate will be open). This is due to the course being extended, and also when it is wet, cars get bogged easily. The parking at the oval is easier and on a hard surface, we have room for about 60 cars there (please carpool if you can). We will have a parking attendant there to help you and the course back on to the parking lot so it's a short walk/ride to the registration area and start/finish line. Please keep space for others, especially if you have trainers/rollers setup for warm up etc. Thanks.

Race Day Procedures

  • Please sanitize your hands before registering, there will be sanitizer available when you arrive.
  • Sign-on: collect your (pre-sanitized) race chip timing tag at the desk, there is NO signing on, if you have verified who you are with your licence, that's all you need to do.
  • Start Lines: Riders will be separated at the start line per social distancing rules, during the race will not be an issue as riders will spread out quickly, but please do not purposely ride immediately next to another rider if it can be avoided. Race safe, and then exit the course and maintain social distancing whilst spectating please.
  • Post race: Timing chips will be collected by a volunteer after you finish, please do not ride back up towards the finish line as the timing equipment may pick up your chip tag again. They all go back in the race box, to be cleaned and sanitized before the next race.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at the registration area, and there are also toilets with washing facilities and hand soap.
  • There is NO CASH accepted or handed out. If cash prizes are won, they will be bank transferred to you ONLY, details can be given to the Club post event for this to happen.

Sign-On Information

We recognise both CA or MTBA licences for the event. If you don’t hold a licence, please complete a Free 2 Month Membership with MTBA if you are eligible prior to the event. Please present proof of who you are to the registration officials.

** Please use the comments field if you're running a spare bike, as we need to issue you a special second number!**

Race schedule subject to change depending on entry numbers and time constraints.

Start procedures: - Riders need to present for their race start at least 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled start time so that they can be Called-Up by Announcer and Commissaires.

Race Fees

Online entry cost is $30 (Juniors $10)

If the race is cancelled due to weather (Ha Ha, this is cyclocross, we don't cancel unless high winds make it dangerous!! There are lots of old gum trees about the course), all online entries will be refunded.

RACE REGULATIONS

CX bikes MUST run CX tyres - 35mm max width (as written on tyre with tiny allowance for tyre flare on wide rims). Definitely no gravel grinder or Monster Cross tyres in CX Race Category. Riders can race the MTB Open event with any tyre, any bike.

PITS will be in operation: - As is the tradition in Cross, mechanical assistance must be taken from the designated pit area. Spare wheels & bike changes cannot be taken from random locations on the course - only in the pits. Riders must run the course to the pits if their bike is unrideable.

  • No License, No Race: - Riders need a current license (or proof of renewal) to race. CA and MTBA licenses allowed. Licences may be checked at any time so to make sure you can race, BRING your licence (physical or digital version) with you to every race.
  • On-the-day Entries: - NONE, Entry is pre-registration only !!

Junior categories are calculated from date of birth, using Cycling Australia membership categories.

All entries are provisional until reviewed by the race director and/or handicapper. If you are unsure of which grade to enter, pick which you think is the best, and put some notes in your entry for the handicapper to review. If you are an A grade road rider, please enter the Elite or A Grade race regardless of your cyclocross experience!

Still not sure? Please contact the Club, details are on our website for any further information.
